Not that I have more information than the rest of us, but perhaps The Miller will be absent for longer than a few weeks. In that case the communication part with China must be picked up by someone else.
About the price: Seeing what is on the market right now, very low priced flashlights with lots of features, like USB charging, and seeing that this lantern is a low powered light, I’m confident that this lantern must be feasable for under 30 dollar. As long as the design is right and under BLF control, the actual production costs do not need to be high.
Next week i will make an updated list, in ireland for work right now so making long days.

If that’s indeed the case, I’m interested in one too…
Hey guys! I’ve been looking for a quality lantern for a long time. I was thinking of getting a Q8 and 3D printing a diffuser, but I stumbled across this thread and had to chime in with a few points/questions.
You talk a lot about how a top-down LED has a lot less glare than a bottom-up design. Why is this the case? Isn’t all of the light bouncing off of the white surface at the base anyways? Even if this is the case, wouldn’t it be easier to invert the lantern and have the battery carrier at the top instead of running leads for the wires up?
Are you planning on keeping the light water resistant even with the USB in/out ports? Do you plan on doing this with a rubber flap, waterproofed internals, or some other method? Is there any hope of using a single USB-C port for power both in and out?
What’s the advantage of using a frosted inner ‘mantle’ instead of just a frosted outer lens?

Indeed on he communication with the manufacturer part, TheMiller was the person who had the expertise on that.
