Best 3 mode Xm-L driver we can buy?

I just ordered one of these from Shining Beam to put into my Ebay X9.

Would I have been smarter if I had ordered

NANJG 105A 2800mA driver instead?

http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=10995

the only problem I can see with the shinningbeam driver is it may be 2800mah at 6v and less current at 3.7-4.2v..don't know for sure though..maybe someone else can clarify..I've used the kd driver in many things and it's great except for the 2 second "on" memory..it's kind of annoying..I have a kd one coming for my ebay x9 as well lol..

They are different versions of the same driver. So either is okay. SB's will get to you faster, KD's is cheaper. KD's also requires soldering to one of the stars to get 3 modes since it is 5 modes by default.

Since they are using current regulators, you get 2.8A throughput down to about 3.8V or so. Because they burn off excess voltage they are more efficient at 4.2V than 6V. I don't see the point of using these with 6V.

nice brted..thanks for clearing that up..

Thank you very much for your comment.

I am not very poor (pending the new Obama Rich Persons tax)

I have some Money, I just always demand that I get the most mileage out of it *smiles*

The KD driver is actually a very good choice. But current drops steadily when voltage decrease... Pulling 2,8A from a 18650 is not really an easy task. The voltage drop at such current is quite heavy. Thankfully XM-L's have somehow lower Vf than ew were used with older emitters. Still 2,8 is mantained not for a long time.

As it happens the Shining Beam driver is marked Nanjg 105C. It must be a custom order because, although it has the stars, they have not been soldered on in order to get the 3 modes. I think they did the hookup on the other side.

However, I ordered this to go in a Trustfire X9 and my new and better DMM says that my X9 is going 2.6 Amps as it is. I picked that dealer because she was the only one who claimed 3000mA in her blurb.

oh well, I will blow out an XM-L driver someday.

I think both are the same, but I prefer KD's driver.

If you want more current, you can add more AMC7135 in parallel.

In this thread there's a nice image showing this.

Any suggestions for XM-L driver, which has HIGH PWM frequency?

So far I know only about this one (1.4A) http://www.shiningbeam.com/servlet/the-133/3-dsh-Mode-Regulated-Circuit-Board/Detail

Same KD driver (or 2.8A Shiningbeam). They have indistinguishable PWM. I took a 1/30th second exposure (I saw someone else do a test like this recently). First I did the BLF Tank007 and saw 6 distinct dots which means 180 Hz PWM. Then I put the KD 2.8A driver on Low and did the same thing and got a continuous line. I couldn't even make out individual pulses.

KD also has the 1.4A driver you point out, but you have to buy 5 of them.

If you have more than 6v you will need a buck driver, so THIS can be useful (IN:5.5v-12v)

Thanks! Ordered 1,4A and 2,8A from shiningbeam, as they are 3-modes.

Also, ordered one P60 H-M-Strobe dropin for pill, SMO reflector and XM-L LED for 12,20$.

Shiningbeam driver is great, I use them all the time. Patience is not a virtue I have, so ordering from us based suppliers like shiningbeam and illumination supply is great. I can order on monday and have all parts either weds or thurs. Last order from china took 5 weeks for all parts to arrive.

While you guys are ordering all this stuff from Shiningbeam you should get one of Bryans new T5 XML 4B neutral emitters they are awesome.

Shningbeam T5 XML 4B Neutral white XML T6 1A
