Military Type Backpacks

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with packs sold on out budget websites GearBest, Banggood Tmart…….
I keep see them pop up and was wondering if can recommend one.
hear’s an example of what I am talking about.

Thanks

Well the quality is so-so. I have one. i think i bought at USD18. So far it held up well. But don’t overload it.you’ll risk tearing the stitches. some of mine has already torn

Check Wal-mart, as they started carrying military style backpacks that were modeled after 5.11 and such. They won’t be $11 unless you find them on clearance. Also if you have Ross stores in the area, I’ve spotted some SOG bags as of late that are copies of 5.11 and Triple Aught Design bags. Most bags from both stores are under $50.

I also spotted some of the SOG bags at ROSS. They had three different sizes, and the largest being a pack with an interior frame. The largest one was $50.

You can find bargains on surplus molle type gear on ebay. I have a near complete set of woodland gear from ebay sellers. The patrol pack can be found for a price similar to the linked item. Make sure you read feedback and that the tag and nsn are displayed in the photos and check description and photos for wear, fading, damage, and markings if you go that route.

bought some stuff from China (mostly ebay but same manufacturer/products as on other sites) and also have authentic branded rucksacks/daypacks/hydration packs.

The branded stuff is way better. Better material, more accurate/durable stitching, warranty if anything goes wrong, and you could see the product in a retail environment/try it out even if you decide to buy it online.

yes, it can be 4-6x more expensive but I believe you get a really good product in return. Having said all of these things: my non-branded packs from overseas are still good enough for daily use but just don’t have the same level of quality .

The Chinese vendors bags are junk. My son likes the style but will ruin a really good good bag in 3 months. I get the cheaper ones and let him go through them.

I have one of the older SOG opicon hydration day packs (smaller backpack bag they had at the time) I carry daily and so far (2 years) its been a really good bag. I know SOG has discontinued some of the wal-mart bags so you see them on clearance all the time. They might have discontinued all the wal-mart line because I noticed SOG has added a bag line on their actual website. When I got mine it was marked half price ($15) and I wish I would have got every one they had in the store at the time.

Yeah they recently introduced those bags at SHOT show. I think the previous bags they just licensed the name to the same people that made the Fieldline bags LOL.

I am looking at the Condor bags they seem to be well made and affordable.

Thanks

I have tried a couple of bargain packs and have been severely disappointed with their craftsmanship, or lack of. Three years ago I finally said to heck with cheap packs and bought an Osprey. Not at all cheap but as it turns out it was worth every cent. More comfortable than any pack I ever had going all the way back to the late 60’s. The one I got is a suspension model… keeps the pack itself off your back by a little bit so air circulates. Double Wow!

I bought this exactly one year ago for my son’s bday to use for airsoft:

His school backpacks are totally trashed by the end of each school year. Altho doesn’t use this
one daily, he uses it for everything else as well as airsoft, including camping and day outings.
It still looks no worse for wear, so far holding up well.

I found it originally thru this site: http://militarybackpackguide.com/

it’s also much larger than the one you linked to.

I’m quite out of this “loop” these days but the best advice has always been to buy the best pack you can afford- it will last longer, feel better in use, and won’t fail you a long way from home where you need it the most.

I recommend surplus stores. I’m military, I’ve used aftermarket bags like Condor and SOG, they haven’t held up as long as my issued (albeit not as useful) bags. The US Army is beginning to transition to Multicam/Scorpion camo so all the previous ACU/Arpat style bags will start to flood the surplus stores soon and there are usually some available at any given moment right now

You are correct. I’m not overly impressed with the new bubble top bags look personally.

They selling them on their youtube right now

I have bought from LA Police Gear, usually their own brand of bags and packs rather than the “name” brands. Their own branded stuff is a good compromise between quality and price—not the cheap, fall-apart-immediately Chinese stuff but way cheaper than Maxpedition, 5.11, etc.

I usually buy closeouts, and sign up for their emails and they send sort of flash deal stuff that is a great bargain for quality gear.

I have bought this 3-day pack for $26 and this bail-out bag for $15 from their email alerts. Be sure to check out their international shipping policies if you are outside the USA.

Thanks!
