Safe way to mod Q8/SRK 2S2P or 4S DIY kit :
Tail+medium boards for 2S2P or 4S mod (both are oversized (47mm) so you need dremel to sand them down)
4 x brass buttons
4 x springs
8 x M2.5×6 hex screws
$1 set without wrench
$2 set with usa-made 1.5mm hex L-wrench
Recommended to use with a pair of 2.5mm positive driver rings (one goes to the medium board, another to the driver board. Please remember that in this configuration big brass ring is outer (negative) contact while positive pad is inside it).
Head side pcb should rotate together with tube. Driver backside should have same pads, negative contact trough sliding rings, for positive Ive add extra spring and brass button.
I have developed it to work with custom tail (extended legth) and reversed tube. It was wrong way so I stopped this project. I wanted to use tail spacer to make it rotatable: http://budgetlightforum.com/comment/1246523#comment-1246523
I still dont know what way is right, the only thing I know – I cant look at this q8 drivers with 4 cell pads on backside. In my opinion this is too dangerous even for high experienced modders. Some members suggested another way, when backplate is fixed in stock postion while medium plate is hold by pins that allow free rotation but can be easily removed for cells change.
Once again, I dont know right way, this kit is true DIY, not plug-and-play.
Problem that I dont get any discount from Hank, so Im loosing some money for each sold board.
I have few Cute-3 in stock and supply quantity is 90pcs. I have to decide should I continue with cute-3 +XP32 combination for C8TT or I should float to the Cute-4+custom pcb.
Cute-3 price=Cute-4 price
Custom aluminium pcb should not cost more than XP32.
Also, I see another problem here. Many people start modding with my kits. I dont see reasonable supply bare boards without leds, those who can solder leds usualy have popular pcbs in their own stock. I have tried to supply nichias but moq is not realistic for me.
Led4power is interested in parallel boards to work with his drivers.
C8TT can work with linear drivers well, but it was developed for 20mm boost driver so I need 2s2p boards that have to be a custom order.
Got my S2+ pill and M2 quad spacer today. Everything was packed nicely and tracking was accurate. Waiting for some LED4Power parts to arrive before I can complete the quad build. Will follow up after it’s assembled.
I got my M2 quad together. It’s running LED4Power 12A driver, 4x Luxeon V on his MOSLED board, and his lighted tail switch.
It’s hard to tell if the O ring is being fully compressed but I can tell it’s at least getting some pressure so i’m not going to be concerned with water resistance. I’m not planning on submersing this in water.
Kiriba-ru did mention that the spacer is meant to not fit “snug” which surprised me at first. However, with thermal paste on both ends of the spacer and everything screwed down I don’t think anything is going to move and I’m getting ridiculous thermal transfer to the body. The light will get hot from head to tail if I let it.
I did ream out the middle hole with next size up drill bit I could find in my tools but only because the LED4Power setup requires 2 LED wires and 3 other ~24G wires for FET,Moon,Temp parts on MCPCB.
Ceiling bounce numbers:
Constant Current 12A setting: 4,000 lm
Direct Drive setting: 5,385 lm (@ turn on)
Moon is just a little brighter than my D4 Nichia.
It does 4,000 lm for about ~75 seconds before stepping down to 1,000 lm. I let it run 5m total and it never stepped down from 1,000 lm but the body was not comfortable to hold at this point.
According to current demand, next batch would not exist.
You can use 17mm driver if you solder it to the retaining ring.
You can use any suitable lenses. My idea was to supply most part so you could build second head and swap it when it is necessary.
I find these plastic boxes you use for shipping your orders very useful for storing bits and pieces of flashlight projects. Can you post a link to where you get them?
Got my p60 neck with s2+ pill, p60 quad drop in, and couple s2 triple spacers yesterday. All look great.
Glad to have snagged the last p60 neck. Very unique piece and is going to make a great little (but heavy) light once I get the components in

Got my S2+ spacers today. Really fast with only 9 days shipping. Everything looks great!
This week arrived, as always everything was great.
my collection and my modding projekts
Great service. Thanks. Much quicker than I expected and a great price.
Now you can get S2+ pill, P60 shelf or Mag D driver adapter with Convoy retaining ring cheaper than ever.
Low-cost copper pills, spacers, optics, drop-ins.
Do you have pictures, how to use this:

Got my order a few days ago. Great packaging as always.
Thanks!
Are you willing to supply the XP32 board? (You need them as well for the C8 V2+)
Still thinking about an EE6 triple.
WTB: Jetbeam TCR-1 or Sunwayman V10R Ti

I am seeing a chance for a quad X6 here
When the mcpcb is supplied i can imagine the price for the C8 kit increases ofcourse

Maybe see if Led4Power can do a“trade price” on his boards,or even collaboration.I can imagine a line of non P60 drop in’s

Stripped the ano of the tube and tail cap so now my C8TT triple heatsink head looks like this :
Awesome !

A few questions about C8TT
next bach will be anodized in black or not?
can i use with 17mm driver without 20 to 17 adapter?
can i use with default lens instead of AR?
In my opinion the Head looks really nice, good work kiriba-ru!
