Cheapest 2*26650 Host (Head doesn't matter!)

Hi!

For a project I need a simple dual 26650 host - the head doesn’t matter, because I will use this as something different (There will be a little motor in front, driven by the two cells).

Anyone who can help?

Thanks!

Yes I have a G700 clone in my AE shopping cart that uses a 3*AAA holder ($2,50)
For $1 an fitting extension tube to make it accept 18650 can be bought, so with more then one you can make the tube as long as you like.
Try to get the link for you (on the phone link copy does bit work from the app)
No can’t now and saw in the app discontinued. Will look for similar thing on PC later.

The cheapest I could find is around 10 Quid: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/5-Mode-3000LM-Zoomable-CREE-XM-L-T6-LED-26650-18650-AAA-Flashlight-Torch-Lamp-Light/32571811552.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.253.kgPdct&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_9,searchweb201602_3_505_506_503_504_10034_10032_10020_502_10001_10002_10017_10010_10005_10006_10011_10003_10021_10004_10022_10009_10008_10018_10019,searchweb201603_9&btsid=c368a3e7-9349-4017-9ad5-8f6afad904ab

But I also saw, that the dual-cell Tube from the Convoy L2 costs only 8.something$: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/battery-tube-for-Convoy-L2-block-style-tube-26650-battery-tube/32592967403.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.38.LOqiG3&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_9,searchweb201602_3_505_506_503_504_10034_10032_10020_502_10001_10002_10017_10010_10005_10006_10011_10003_10021_10004_10022_10009_10008_10018_10019,searchweb201603_9&btsid=cbfd58cb-26e4-40d0-b281-103022e4e3e6

I will ask Simon if he can give me a switch assembly for a cheap pricel, too. That would be a lot nicer than I imagined it.

Oh nice you got something and indeed $10 is not a lot, I refrain from searching then

That first one you linked to sounds like it might be a good format for your project. The pill on that light should thread into battery tube. Head is actually held on by the pill. I've used similar lights to make lasers because that feature opens up all kinds of options.

If the pill screws into the tube - it doesn’t matter. I have a lathe and will make a adapter-piece out of POM.

I already did a 1*26650 project like that - works fine

tell us what the little motor is going to do

I’m building a powerfull milk frother.

As I mentioned, I already have one with this Motor and it works absolutely perfect.
The Motor runs at around 3W and isn’t usable for Water or milk, it’s just too powerfull (a glass should be half full at max) - but it’s perfect for mixing thicker fluids - like protein shakes (That’s what I built it for).

A 2x26650 Version of this would be absolute useless overkill, but it’s fun to build and have

Nice idea L4M4. Are you planing to somehow extend the motor shaft? Shaft from the link that you provided is very short.

I made a part from POM, that fits on that shaft and where I fitted a mixing-thingy from a milk frother I already had (2€ from Ikea)

That is really depraved. Let’s all think of new weird things for our flashlights to do

Cool.

Simon answered me, He doesn’t have any switch-assemblys for sale :frowning:

Have you considered building something more in the style of a box-mod? In the USA the “sleds” cost around $8. EDIT: The sled I linked to is the Keystone Electronics 1109 - they also make the 1108 which has gold plated contacts.

Why I want a flashlight-host: The switch compartment.
Also a flashlight-Tube is nice to hold and to some point waterproof.

That makes sense. It’ll be interesting to see if you can beat your $10 2x26650 host!

Why 26650 though? Because of the similar diameter of the 26650 and the RS380 motor?

Nope, I just had a single 26650 dead flashlight laying around - and for dual-cells, I like the bigger diameter much more than these thin 18650 Bat-Tubes.

I agree about the diameter vs length. Longer lights typically seem better proportioned with thicker battery tubes.

I would like to turn a torch into a secret video camera.
With motion sensor.
Has anyone done this. ??
