According to the Taschenlampen website, the author measured 4K+ lumens from the solder-blobbed, de-domed S70. He also conjectured that the plain solder-blob modded S70 (without the de-dome) would have been around 5K lumens! 8-)

Rule 1-1 as it applies to life, take it as it comes.
Do you think one could install a SMD resistor instead of directly bridging it? To lower the amp draw at turbo to 4-5A, since there is very little gain after 5A anyways.
Will34 made a valid point with this question but I saw no answer. I’m hoping someone can give a range in ohms resistance that will likely achieve 4-5 amps.

Yeah I don’t think there’s any doubt you could do that, but someone will need to either find a datasheet for the components on the driver or do some trial-and-error to to find what resistor values give what results. I personally don’t have any resistors of that low value range to experiment with.

You’re right about that. There’s just not enough of these in the right hands yet to know the exact answer. I’m putting in a Mouser order and was just hoping someone could give me a likely suspect line up that I could try later. I don’t even have the light yet (Out of stock).
The resistors appear to be much larger than 0805’s but I really doubt they carry the full amps to the LED. I’m not sure that’s what you meant though. I’ll work on it after I actually have one in my hands.
You mean “S70”?

its also only a solder blob on the S70
but i am not sure it is the same driver (cause the e-switch)
PLEASE NOTE
i do not work in "reviews, deals and codes" for the time being
maybe M4D M4X will return one day, but until then:

Awesome, really want to try that! Pm me code please? (For s50/s70)
Do you mean that this same mod would work on the S70 (by applying a solder blob)?
Or do you mean that the stock S70 comes with a solder blob at this position on the circuit board?
NVM, found the answer:

The same mod can be made on the S70
i hope i can do the S70 mod-video this week

Yes – i have some contact with him and DO trust him 100%

My happyness was a bit too early. Just got a note that restock will happen only on 18th April. Let’s see..
Ditto for my S50 order.

i can tell you that all the amps are going over that connention – to the resistors have to handle a lot power
i also have no set of resistors (nor the time) to try a lot combinations…
