Varta Plug Charger 57647
A fairly simple four slot charger from Varta.
I got the charger in a blister pack.
The pack contained the charger and four 2100mAh AA cells. The user guide is printed on the inlay paper in the pack.
This model charger is with EU plug and has universal voltage 100-240VAC 50/60Hz.
The charger has two blue status led, they will light up when the charger is charging. The charger always uses a fixed time.
The manual recommend removed the batteries when they are full, using the above schema. This will only work if you always start with empty batteries.
The charger has the typically two level slots used for AA and AAA batteries.

Power consumption when idle is 0.4 watt

Charger can only charge two or four cells at a time.

Charge will restart charging after power loss, or battery insertion.

Not very fast charging and termination happens hours after the batteries are full.

The current is significantly reduced with AAA cells.

No problem with four cells.

It do warm the cells a bit when charging.
M1: 51,6°C, M2: 55,0°C, M3: 53,6°C, M4: 50,8°C, M5: 43,2°C, HS1: 58,1°C
When the batteries are full, they start cooking, until the timer cuts out or they are removed.
There is no delay from power is applied until the charger starts charging.
Testing with 2500 volt and 5000 volt between mains and low volt side, did not show any safety problems.
Conclusion
A simple charger, it can be used for cells that is rejected by smart chargers or older non LSD (Low self discharge) cells, but it is a bad idea to use it for any working LSD cells. Also remember that it only charges two or four cells at a time, a single or tree cell will not work.
