"The Hammer Head" unknown dual led light build/mod. This will be a challenge!

“The Miller” provided an unusual light for me to mod. It uses a side switch only and has dual LED’s. This will differ from my D01 build, this is more of a fun challenge than something I was driven to build.

My plan is to install a red XP-E2 on one side and drive it with 5 or so 7135’s. The other side will get an XM-L2 or 219C and will be FET driven. I am not crazy about the white being purely FET driven, but will have to live with it. I think this build will take a while, spring is here and my life is very crazy… 2 kids and my lawn and my folks lawn will occupy most of my weekends… I will update this thread as progress is made. May even do a short video when it is done…

Things I will need to do:

  1. Build new driver based on the PD68 “Triple Down” Rev. 2
  2. Strip and float it on the old press fit driver, maintain existing switch
  3. Flatten the surface that the 2 20mm Noctigons will mount in, existing surface is not flat and has a recess in the center
  4. Figure out the firmware for the driver. I would like the 7135’s to drive the red and the FET to drive the white. Red will be 1 or 2 modes and the FET will have 3 modes

Here are a few kick off photos…

The light as a complete unit.

The driver cavity, little tight in there.

Stock driver…

Front side, scratches on the glass. Reflectors look ok.
