Q: Best thrower between.....

A question for BLF Gurus: which is the best compact thrower between
Manker Quinlan T01
and
Astrolux S3 (or Astrolux SC Copper)?

There are more compact thrower to choice from?

Thank you in advance

I have Manker T01 and BLF X5. Both great lights. Beam very similar. If I had to choose - I like T01 more because it can be powered by regular AA and is more compact. On the other hand - X5 is more powerful, looks better, but a bit longer…it’s rather personal preference.

There’s also Hugsby V1 + 14500. Not that good, but for sure cheap and throws really well.

Thank you for sharing your experience

I don’t have the Manker. Suspect the different will be minimal in real terms. On a fresh IMR battery the X5/Astrolux will make more lumens and is using the same LED and same/similar reflector. So more lumens will mean more lux.

But you’d probably need them side by side to really see the difference. And on a part used battery where max outputs are likely the same, then my hunch would be so would the throw.

Of course, if max throw is your goal, you could replace the LED with a de-domed XP-G2….

Do you suggest some 14500 compact thrower with factory de-doomed XP-G2?

The Astrolux S3 is a better thrower.

- BLF X5 (Astrolux S3) = 30kcd

  • Manker T01 = 20kcd

Run time on the S3 is correspondingly shorter.
