I just charged mine for the first time too . They were at 3.85v and the light wasn’t hurting for a charge but I charged them because …
“ February is official charge up all your batteries month “
I broke out multiple chargers and opened up all the beefy lights and all the multiple battery lights .Tomorrow I’ll open up a bunch of single battery lights..
anyway the first thought i had when opening up the Q8 was ..Wow nice job on the threads ..Another thing I have to compliment the creators of the blf q8 on is the TINT … I consider myself very picky and have always ..always been unhappy with tints on past BLF lights . This is just more proof that decent tints can be found for these projects if someone actually cares . Thanks again … what a nice light
I can’t say enough nice things about the amazing User interfaces that members here have produced .
I’m old enough to remember All the torture we endured with hi/ho/sos/strobe next mode mem.
for the newb who wants to argue the need for sosstrobe etc can we have a strobe only mode which makes full use of high discharge batteries and one click/just kills them where they stand ./one less knucklehead on BLF
I agree Boaz, over are the days of flashlights with obvious design flaws, terrible PWM and bad user interfaces, thanks to what happened on BLF over the last years, for the same budget we can have extremely nice lights. I just finished a triple C8 build with a driver (made by Lexel, but MountainElectr. makes similar drivers) that has the same user interface as the Q8 (NarsilM, one version further down the road) and I’m delighted to have that user-friendliness in a smaller light as well I do not think I can go back to the old days of bad mode spacing, PWM and strobe/SOS in the main sequence, anu light that has that will be re-build or simply not bought in the first place.
It happened to you too, huh? Well, thanks for the suggestion. I guess I’ll give the manual another read, because sometimes it’s hard to get the click sequences and timing just right. I might even look up how to do a factory default reset, and start again.
Do you know the newer cheat sheet?
It has now usefull notes based on user questions.
Go to http://bit.ly/narsil-cs
and get the v1.0 version for the Q8
Ah i would have LOVED if my Q8 came with a candle light mode! thats so neat!
im not a flasher (gulp) so i wouldnt even know where to begin. I know what i would do if i was tho: i would put colored cups on it as diffusers and….well…..look at it? Good enough excuse for me!
I also received a new complete switch PCB and tool for bezel removal in about the same time frame as MtnDon
We had some delays , so i received the switch “kit” today .
(The little note has the mapping of the wires)
Is there any link to order the kit?
I have some complaints from a friend I bought the flashlight, but I can not communicate with him often, and prefer to have a spare set.

Hello guys, i just received mine, ordered @ Banggood 24/01/2018, the light came with 1.0 firmware.
This light is absolutely amazing! A big thumbs up to the team who designed this, it is really impressive for a low budget flashlight.
The Narsil firmware is a bit overwhelming at the beginning, but after some times reading the manual, some diagrams, reviews here and there, you can manage it pretty well and it offer you so much configurations possibilities, and even with the out of the box configuration the light work like a charm, just excellent.
This is my first beer can sized flashlight and i'm really happy with my Blf Q8, so thanks to all the peoples who made this flashlight project a reality.
Well made, good quality, solid.
(coyote brown, ranger green, khaki)
The only “drawback” is the additional strap bands on both sides that will be catched by the tailcap of the flashlight depending how much it protrudes from the batteries tube.
The Q8’s tailcap catches them a bit (not a straight/direct pull), the MF01 barely.
Hi Teacher. The above link shows Everett’s latest version of his MELD firmware. It may look a bit confusing Everett is our resident genius. When I first saw his firmware in a flashlight, I had to have it. So I had him custom build me an Olight S10 Baton with R,G,B,W, and UV emitters. Yes, that’s 5 emitters in that tiny light. And of course his firmware, the greatest UI of all time in my opinion. Hard to use anything else, but I also love Narsil. You can do a search for his MELD in our Forum or click on his name and search his threads. He has made some amazing videos of some of his flashlight builds. He loves TINY stuff. Hope u enjoy the video, it can be a bit confusing. And NO, I Will never sell my custom S10!
I have not found anything I like better. Nothing even comes close as far as I personally am concerned. :THUMBS-UP:

I was just referring to the ramping on the Q8 saypat as opposed to set levels. BUT NO... What is MELD?? It sounds interesting. :)
Dude, please just a little research sometime when reacting to a seasoned member's post in such a way. There are some folks here, tterev3 being one of the best, that have made huge contributions to this hobby and forum. Just because they are not currently in the pop culture, does not make their contributions any less important.

No complaints about the Q8 here either. I haven’t even had to charge the batteries yet!
With one of Zozz’s diffusers donated by Dale, it has spent quite a few hours lately doing candle duty:

You really don’t have to, the default ramping works great.
