It is not 1-to-1 ratio, but this is the closest dimension that I have found.

Retaining ring is not glued. Go easy with when releasing the ring to prevent accidental scratches.

This might be a silly question but how is the retaining ring fixed to the torch’s body? Is it a press fit that will need levering off or is it screwed in? Any info/tips would be appreciated. Smile

Lets see here, “WE” design this great light and add a battery indicator to the switch and everybody reviews it and is happy. Then “WE” decide to add a gray cover so you can not see the battery indicator and say “ what could be bad about this”. I don’t know, maybe hundreds (thousands?) of unhappy customers. Sounds like a plan to me!

BUT, they don’t even mention it in their literature. Maybe you won’t notice. I’m sure, it was just a manufacturing decision (lets put the big T on there), which is cool, but the grey doesn’t cut it. I’d be willing to bet in the future, they will source it clear.

Can anyone find a source for 10mm x 6mm tail caps?

Otherwise, I’ll order the 10mm x 8mm size ones from Kaidomain and figure out a way to make up the 2mm extra space.

Got a response from member Thorfire, he said to let Banggood’s Customer Service handle it.

C’est la vie.

I filed a claim with Banggood under “poor quality” goods received. We’ll see what happens now. Flat Stare

I wish I knew if the battery condition indicator was included in the product description when I placed the order.

Or when was it deleted from the Thorfire website?

There’s no mention of the battery condition indication in the manual.
Was it mentioned with the first version?

Thanks for that link. I ordered 5 of each clear & GITD, which arrived today, so my S70 is now rocking the latter and looks so much better for it. Cool

Got my S70 and it only lasted 5 seconds, doing a paper clip test everything worked OK , I guess its the tail clip.

Able to show use how it looks after installation? I also ordered a GITD set to test out but I have yet to receive it.

The S70 came in a few days ago… with a grey switch too.
I forgot about the battery indicator light so did not worry about it. Now i am – lol.
I won’t get mad about it though. Still a very good value light.
Now if i can fix that easily…

I’m selling a few of the translucent covers here [link], for those who might be interested.

Pictures and comments from that sales thread:

This replacement switch cover is approximately 10mm x 8mm, whereas the original cover is approximately 10mm x 6mm. Not an exact fit (see pictures below), but works just as well as the original as far as operating the switch is concerned.

The slightly thicker flange causes the switch retaining ring to stick up about a half-millimeter more than the original. Because the retaining ring does not snug completely down to the flashlight body, there is a slightly increased risk of water intrusion via the threads. I would recommend against intentionally dunking or using this flashlight (with the translucent switch cover) submerged underwater.

Before and after pictures of the switch (like night and day!):

Removal of the side switch retaining ring is a simple process of unscrewing it. See this link if you need further instructions: http://budgetlightforum.com/comment/484918#comment-484918

You can use a pair of long-nosed pliers, snap ring pliers, or tweezers as a tool for removing the retaining ring. It is not screwed on very tightly. However, be very careful not to scratch the anodized finish of the flashlight or the retaining ring.

Yes, those are KD switch covers.

Shipping from the U.S. to Russia costs far more than the product. I suggest that you order directly from the Kaidomain.

I know about this Smile Thanks for answer. I just was thinking – it’s some another cap with better compatibility (exactly with S70) or something like that

Why not try to reduce the thickness by sanding it down with sand paper or slice with a sharp blade?

I have never tried sanding down silicone rubber. I would imagine that it would crumble after a short while.

As for slicing and dicing, I wouldn’t attempt to do so with such a small margin for error. I prefer a uniformly thick switch cover than an irregular thin one.

Besides, the amount of work needed to shave down the translucent switch cover wouldn’t be worth the effort, for me anyway. Aesthetically, it makes no difference to me. And as far as water resistance is concerned, I’m not certain that it makes any difference. I’m just being conservative in recommending against submerging the flashlight.

To slim down the silicone rubber boot, place it on a very hot surface and press it down with the retaining ring while dragging it in a circular motion. It should melt away the extra silicon, I have done this with a black rubber boot, but the clear one may have higher heat resistance.
