Easy method to center reflector

I’m sure some of you do this already, but if anyone is having trouble centering your reflector/adapter on, say, an XP size emitter, I have a very easy way of doing it. I have not found a spacer yet that I like for XPL HI emitters, so I end up sanding and dremmeling. Then I end up doing double adapters (XP inside XM adapter) or doing the whole turn the bezel 1/4 turn and keep doing this until it’s finally centered.

Just use a couple tiny spots of super glue, center the adapter, then let it sit for 5 minutes. Place reflector over top and you are done.

Extra tip: for XP-L HI, cover the dome with a piece of tape to avoid it fogging up with the super glue. Once I damaged a dome trying to polish it.

Thanks and yes!! That is soo true. I recently about ruined a locket my wife gave to me to fix for her. I glued a piece in and then closed up the glass cover. My fingerprint then showed up on the inside of the fogged glass. I was able to wipe it all down, but I then remembered watching a crime show where they pulled fingerprints using super glue vapors.

Yep, been doing it awhile now! Another tip… don’t be in a hurry or it will fog up your reflector too!

Tip# 37

I cover my led when soldering with just a wet piece of paper towel .
i use way too much flux always and I think covering the led dome for me is just a prudent move .
