MTN Group Discount Thread - Current Deal: MTN-slDD Driver

Welcome to the MTN Electronics Group Discount Thread!

Group quantity discounts, without the drama!

MTN-slDD Driver

1. Introduction

i. What is this thread all about?

This thread is where you will find the current "group discount" item from Mountain Electronics. Instead of creating a new thread for every new item, all "group discounts" will be found in this thread.

ii. What is a "group discount"?

The idea is a mix between a normal group buy, and a regular promotional sale. Essentially, once a minimum amount of interest has been shown for a product, the discounted listing will begin. In some instances, the greater the interest, the greater the discount will be.

There will not be promotional codes sent; instead, the deal will be directly available to everyone once enough interest has been shown. This saves the time and hassle of generating, sending, and managing hundreds of promotional codes.

iii. How do I place my order?

Once the promotional deal has enough interest, the link to the item will be listed here, and the listing will become active until the specified time frame has ended or until the specified quantity limit has been reached (item sold out).

2. Current Deal

i. Current Deal: MTN-slDD Driver

Do you want to hop up your AAA light or fit a driver into a tiny space? Look no further! This driver offers all of the performance of the big FET drivers, but in a very small size.

The driver is approximately 12mm in diameter, with additional tabs on the side. The tabs can be filed off if needed, and the total driver diameter can be reduced to ~10mm without getting into any major components.

These are built and tested in the USA by Mountain Electronics using high-quality components.

For more information, please see this listing (price and some options are different from the "group discount")

DEAL IS LIVE!

G'Day Richard,

What diameter is the driver? is it 12mm, Or?

I couldn't find it in your OP.

Thank you Very Much,

George

Would this fit in a BLF 348? Also do you have any forward clicky switches that would fit in that light?

Hi, it's approximately 12mm diameter, with some added tabs on the side. The tabs can be filed off.

Added info to the OP.

Yes, you could fit it in that light (and most AAA lights, with some fitting). I do not know whether a 1mm or 1.6mm PCB would be more appropriate.

I do not have any forward clicky switches small enough to fit in a AAA or even AA light.

Put me down for 2.

Hi Richard,

Is it possible to order one of these but have it held aside until I place my next order? Wouldn’t be terribly cost effective to just ship one of these to aus.

Well, shucks, I just ordered 8 of these at full price (not received yet.)
Oh well, where else can you get cool stuff like this?

…….put me down for at least 2 more.

I would be good for 3 of these, guppydrv Rev 1 and 1.6mm PCB.

One question, would Eswitch firmware moppydrv be an option? I would think these small drivers would be perfect for piggybacking on an Eswitch light driver like the Manker U11, should be able to fit it in somewhere…

Thanks, and I like this concept…

I’m going to need one.

To give you an idea on how good these are… here I modded a Maratac copper AAA with this driver (gruppydriv rev.2 fw) and Nichia 219C.

Stock LED and driver:

Before vs After, In the photos the 1.6mm thick driver is shown, but I actually ended up using the 0.8mm one. Not necessary, but I added a solder blob top and a ring of soldering on the edge to improve ground contact. Minimal sanding was required to fit the new driver and it was secured with a couple drops of superglue.

This little FET driver paired with a low Vf LED allows much higher amps on a 10440 than with a XP-G2, according to my ceiling bounce tests it does about 750lm with a fresh efest 10440. Full build here: What did you mod today? - #634 by will34

Richard, I should probably have one as well. 1.6mm with wires and standard with ML and memory.

So is this driver plug and play into a tool AAA pill or will it need some sanding?

Yes, when they become available. Here is the procedure:

  1. Place your order on the website.
  2. State in your checkout comments that you would like the order to be held and shipped together with your next order.
    1. We will only hold your order for 2-3 weeks maximum. Any longer, and we will just ship you the order.
    2. If you do not state that you want it combined in the checkout comments, we will probably ship it out.

Pretty much plug and play in the Tool. The 1mm requires no sanding.

Two for me, please

Heck, I’m in for 1. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m in for 2.

And two for me, please :sunglasses:

thx, Gerd

I’m in at least one. I hope EU shipping won’t kill the deal:)
