Solarstorm Sc03 review (16340 flashlight)

Hey guys this my review of the Solarstorm SC03 this is a cut and paste from my old blog but i decided to turn it into a website and i never finished it. The website i mean i will work some thing out i guess.
I still have the address this damn website takes up to much time lol! http://www.everydaysurvivalgear.net/

Warning this review was done before my BLF days :stuck_out_tongue:

This was my first proper EDC i would say. Now its dead the rubber switch stuffed up like it went soft maybe from heat? Then the actual switch stuffed (this is why i hate electronic switches!) So i parted it out i probably could have fixed it now but back then i couldn’t…

Solarstorm SC03 Review

Hi So this is my new everyday carry flashlight i have been using it for about 6 weeks now and it is flawless so far! I generally use my EDC flashlight everyday usually trying to get my key into the door late at night the outside doesn’t work so great lol.

I brought mine from fasttech and on the website it is rated at 460lm but when i received the flashlight on the pack it says 280lm i would say it is closer to the 280lm it is rated at.
It puts out more light then my led lenser p7 which is rated at 200lm and it is smaller and much lighter.

It uses a Cree xm-l2 t6 that has 3 modes high and low setting and a hidden strobe the high and low setting are both adjustable so you can change the amount of light you want from the settings (ramping feature). The strobe is a fixed amount of light. the flashlight uses a cr123/16340. It is 2m water resistant and 1.5m shock resistance.

So far the battery time is good i am using 800 Mah GTL battery i am not sure if they are real or the actual Mah capacity i have 4 of them so i keep them in rotation and charged i get about an hour and half of mixed use out the batteries. Okay this an update for BLF members i upgraded to soshine batteries and the GTLs only have about 350-400 Mah capacity.

The flashlight is small and compact and easy to store any where you need it to be.

One more thing the lens is great it is an even light source coming from this lens the throw isn’t great but what do you expect from such a shallow lens that is not adjustable you will get about 100m throw distance on the highest setting but it makes up for it by being so even.

The build quality is great! It is as good as the better Chinese made flashlight like Jetbeam and Nitecore the thread is perfect and the reflector is flawless the button work well and is holding up good.
The o rings come oiled and the lens is strong and sturdy. Being a small flashlight it does heat up a lot on high setting but if left on low it stays warm but manageable.

If you would like to see the flashlight being used outside at night or you just hate reading check out my youtube video. Far out i didn’t even link it in the original post lol!

Still no love for smaller lights on here :stuck_out_tongue:
