Singfire 348 special edition review

Singfire SF-348 special edition review

Hey folks this is my review of the Singfire 348. The flashlight was supplied to me by Gearbest for review purpose! So grab a drink and some popcorn and let’s get started.

!

!

This light was a Budgetlightforum special edition flashlight. I didn’t join that group buy I was meaning to buy one to try but I never got around to it. To be honest I personally never liked 10440 lights just because of the capacity of the battery but my EDC isn’t that much bigger at all being a 16340 flashlight. The good thing about this flashlight is that it can be run on either a standard alkaline or NiMH AAA or the lithium equivalent the 10440. Today I will be testing the Singfire 348 with both battery types.

!

!

The main advantage of using a NiHM AAA is the massive run time by my calculations I checked the tail cap amperage with a NiMH it was drawing about 500 milliamps and being a 800 MAH NiMH this should yield you about 1.5 hours run time. The light will stay cool for longer periods at this amperage seeing as it is only producing around 100-120 lumen.

The advantages of using a 10440 battery is the brightness and the overall power the light produces. My light was draining about 1+amps (I got up to about 1.3 amps) at the tail cap and my soshine batteries are 350MAh so this should give you about 20 mins of run time and flashlight gets hot enough to cook a steak!

Looking at the Nichia website they say you should get around 300 lumen @ 700Ma I guess that would be at the LED so that would be OTF lumen count. I would say the stated specs of this flashlight would be really close to the 240 lumen! It is super bright but because of the tint being a high CRI of at least 90+. It doesn’t look as bright as whiter tint flashlights would. The tint on this light comes in around 5000k so anywhere between 4745 - 5310K tints.

This is a 2am shot of the lemon tree you can see all the colours perfectly.

The body of the flashlight is stainless steel and it is amazing my light had no blemishes or marks on it at all this Brings a tear to my eye! Wow we can actually buy a flashlight made this good. I will add the clip is a little flimsy it bends easy but only at the half way point nothing major it still holds the light in place. The Nichia LED is well placed in the center of the reflector Singfire done a much better job on this light then astrolux done on the A01 at placing the LED inline. Being a full stainless body it does have the problem of dissipating heat so it does get warmer than an anodized flashlight of the same size and power. I believe the flashlight has a heat management system so that shouldn’t be a major problem the light steps down when it gets to hot and ramps back up when the light cools down.

So far i have been using my light for a week and the stainless is holding up really well still no marks on the light what so ever. what ever they done it works.

Looking at these chairs you can see all the details good but the camera did wash out a bit!

The lens is glass and the singfire 348 features an aluminum textured reflector which is OP overpowered? Nah orange peel which gives the light a very nice floody even beam. So don’t expect a 1000m thrower here but you should be able to get about 50 meters of even nice tinted light.

The light only has one setting on and off no modes which is fine.I am kind of use to cycling through modes now but the one mode is good if you just need a light to be on quick and seeing as it is not super bright you can get away with only having one mode.

The light uses a reverse clicky type switch which sits over the end of the light sounds like a headache right? Well because it is only one mode and is a reverse type clicky (you have to push the button all the in to activate) I do not think you will have any issues leaving this light in your bag or pocket and the light Turning its self on.
Even if it did turn on you can always go past the shops and pick up some alkalines and whack them in. while I am here talking about the switch even though it sticks out you can still tail stand the light which amazed me lol I know simple minds.

Singfire 348 using a 10440 battery
!

!

So the light is small coming in at just about 9cm long and 1.2cm wide so it could easily be used as an EDC and it only weights about 25 grams without the battery in this case using a NiMH will weight a little more than using a lithium battery.

Overall the light is extremely well made and it is priced good at around $10 USD you can go out and buy a lot worse lights for a lot more money then the Singfire 348 as with any thing in life it has its little flaws but overall it shines bright in more ways then one.
