Sunwayman T40CS

Mentioned in one of the threads here but not much interest.... but just FYI.

If the throw distance is true, then we are looking at 62500 cd.

Price is quite good for a branded light. It is cheaper than the V60C. (V60C is usd139 shipped to any country from another source). Batteryjunction is selling the V60 for usd165 before international shipping, and T40CS for $120 before international shipping.

Soo ugly, but the throw is attractive!

The sideswitch thing is pretty cool, wonder how well it works in the real life

At first i thought it was ugly too. But now i find it ok. Don't know why.... The bottom part is Surefire actually.

Or you are going for the V10R Anniversary edition? (with the red ring)

$120! This is BLF.

62.5 KCD from an XM-L? WOW !!!

This the brightest spot number out of a single XM-L I've seen yet.

It looks like some decent XM-L-specific reflectors are starting to make it to market.

It should be lower, hope it's close to $100. Thing is, it is 62k and XM-L, reflectored. Next in line is a Sky Ray STL-V2 at 54 bucks.

A XR-E reflectored and a XM-L reflectored is very different, even if the former is 57k and latter is 50k. The former may cast a very slightly brighter spot at a 500m target but that's about it. The 50k XM-L blows the XR-E to smithereens in all other areas.....things are very different at 100, 200m for eg, in terms of usefulness etc.

The reflector looks same size of Skyray STL-V2 about 60 mm (2.7 - 2.8 A to LED)

I measured my Skyray STL-V2 with DX lux-meter is about 48,000 lux (may be Sunwayman/Fenix lux-meter about 58,000 lux )

Regarding throw numbers, I don't know that Sunwayman is really doing ANSI testing on everything or what ANSI can do if they don't follow it. The figures for the V20A with XP-G vs. XM-L don't make any sense. They say 210 lumens for the XP-G and only 150 lumens for the XM-L. I asked them about this and they said that if you use a 14500 and a dummy cell in the XM-L V20A you will get 408 lumens. But something isn't right.

However, the reflector on the T40CS will definitely make it a great thrower, whether the numbers are accurate or not.

Sure $120 isn't strictly BLF for everyone, but its more of a way of seeing whats around, and what is being achieved by various manufacturers. Provides information for a realistic comparison and for helping to build the wish list - a more throwy budget XM-L?

It looks like he got tired of designing that light at about the 3\4 mark. It has an appeal though. I never really looked at Sunwayman before, probably because of the name. They really have some nice lights but I sure cant figure out their naming method. Lights within series are completely different. I also think that $120 is not a bad price for that light.

Nice find 2100. Im almost horrified to admit it, but I think thats a great high-tech modern looking flashlight. Does this mean I should also start collecting toilet plungers? LOL

With a 64mm head, Id guess the reflector to be around 58mm. The versatility in the UI and dual buttons looks useful and uncomplicated for a change. Also: "High-Mid-Low output, Hidden Strobe and SOS" and forward clicky. Bravo!! I wonder how this would stack up in real life throw against the Fandyfire STL-V6.

Hopefully, we will see a review soon as well as better pricing from one of our trusted vendors.

The DX is pretty low. I have some known lights, also under read on the meter. Like Solarforce MPP-1, TK70, Dereelight DBS XR-E aspheric.

This thread shows that it is under, while the other one that you find on Ebay and DX is over.

It's the same for V10A which Dinodirect just organised a groupbuy for. They listed the numbers for AA. Then if you check Selfbuilt's review the output numbers with 14500 is the same with other XP-G lights from Fenix etc, ie much higher than AA (expected).

I have checked with the LEDcalc.xls, it should be 788 ANSI OTF (3 mins i think) at 3.0A thereabouts. I mean the STL-V2 does not slide till 2 mins 45 seconds. But this light does not have a lot of mass, 275g for this vs 400g for the Balder BD-4!

I have already overcome my fear for toilet plungers after the TK70, that was a nasty one huh! The V60C is refreshing and nice design but not M60R nice, still pretty good if you need that kind of light. The first time i saw the T40CS i was thinking "what have they been smoking". But a few days later it looks pretty ok. Now I want it! Sealed

My trusted vendor still does not have indicative pricing, but hope it's close to $100. I mean usd139 shipped (think of it as usd127+ $12 shipping) worldwide for the V60C is great. <<- international customers get more savings, it's usd14 shipping via first class from goinggear and 10% off $165 is 148.

That's a big light. It would probably be more apparent if someone's hand was in the photo.

A HS-802 is a larger sized light (thrower) and it's head diameter is more like 45mm.

Purchased the T40CS, well over 40 bucks cheaper than Battery junction for international customers. Lets see what it can do...

where did u purchase this light?

keep us posted

thnks

From US dealers you pay about usd25-35 for shipping. Illumination Supply is the cheapest with usd7.50 for international, while bugoutgearusa has highest discount, goinggear is not bad. But shipping kills.

As usual, HKE. If you are living in HK probably you will pay "silly" amount of money for your flashlights. Just pickup from the house or mass rapid transit stations! (probably pretty common in Beijing/Shanghai/HK/SG/Taipei/Kaoshiung)

My local dealers, no such luck.... Though I did get the Jetbeam RRT-2 XM-L for just usd85 (supposedly was picked up directly from JB China and conveniently packed into the suitcase, like how some people sell 20% cheaper Nikon/Canon lenses picked up from HK....lenses have international warranty as verified by Nikon SG, but bodies do not have international warranty)
