Brightest LED currently,Regardless of application...

Hello guys, I’m just wondering whats the brightest LED that exists today? I may be venturing to up the 90,000 lumen monster light to about a 100,00. That is when I do get access to the correct equipment! Ideas welcome!

Possibly CITIZEN “COB” led’s. The CLU550 makes 40,000 lumens, though it requires 100 volts.

Large single emitters allow for pretty much no optical control and are only particularly suited to high bay lighting and such. They do offer low system complexity though… which is a plus.

It is better to collimate 40,000 lumens into a beautiful beam than it is to have a whitewash of lumens. For this reason, short arc spotlights are king, but a small array of LED’s under aspheric condenser lenses would be pretty darned nice.

I found the epistar 100W and it runs between 32-36V. Maxes out according to spec sheet is 8500lm at 3.5A. And I found this, Best Epistar 100W 45mil Chip High Power LED

Looks like a pretty terrible LED. Cree has the CXA2590 which is 15,600 lumens from 19mm, and priced about the same.

Definitely take a look at the Citizens though. They aren’t all 100 volts. They are bright and offer variants with CRI ratings as high as 97, with 90+ R9.
