My Z1 got an Luminus SBT-70 for the round die and it’s ensuing round hot spot. I like it, as I simply adore the way they build this emitter, but it’s not an absolute kind of light due to horrible inefficiency of this emitter. One thing I do not like is the blue rectangle from around the perimeter of the substrate. It’s normal for this light, not seen in a reflectored light (I have several) but the zoomed in image clearly shows it, even in the field.
What most impressed me most was the area that was illuminated at a long distance on zoom. Not just a small square of light moving around, but a large illuminated piece of real estate. The square shape isn’t a factor once it’s greatly enlarged. I could clearly see what was in the distance, not just a hot point of light that throws far, but unable to discern the big picture. No visible matrix or bond wires sold me. It’s easy to adapt to the squarish beam, but magnified quad matrixes and bond wires is annoying. I’m about as happy as a clam with how this light performs with the XHP-35 HI.
And you used a driver from Richard to do this?
I just ordered one from him for a 3V Buck set-up, probably have to get another now… I already have some XHP-35’s and 6 of the 26350’s. Didn’t the Z1 come with an extension tube? I forget, my box is stored and I haven’t gone to the issue of getting to it yet.
Yes, I used a 4S-16.8A MTNMAX buck driver set at 2.5A. (I got 2.8A at the tail)
I just ordered another Z1, and it shows an extension is include. My last one included the extension also.
I really wanted to give the XHP-35 a try, but the 12V made it look like a no go. Luckily those 26350 come out at the same time as I got my Z1host, and I was first in line.

Glad you brought up the “box” Dale. Could you tell me what kind of box your host came it? I just ordered a factory Z1 and it didn’t come with the factory box shown in the pictures. It came in a plain white box just large enough to fit the light in and the accessories were just loose in the shipping box? Is this normal packaging for recent Z1’s?
I got the two factory built ones from Banggood back before they got banned from carrying them.
I got the two hosts from Jaxman on Aliexpress.
All of them were in the Classic brown box with nice foam padding, I don’t remember any of them shipping from Singapore though.
Where did you order yours from Brett?

Hey buddy, hope you have been doing well. I have been away from here for a while.
I ordered mine from Aliexpress
Store: Suizhou Jaxman Electronics Co.,Ltd
It definitely came from Singapore and it came via AliExpress Standard Shipping. It couldn’t be tracked via USPS, although it did recognize the package was from Singapore. Also, I had to sign for the delivery. The whole thing is very strange.
Mine too was the brown box, the nice aspheric and all other parts were in their own slots, nicely done, attention to detail is a caveat with Jaxman.
Yes, I remember seeing how the hosts were packaged; looked very nice! Of course mine being a factory assembled model the aspheric was pre-installed. My aspheric also has a small chip on the outer edge but it does not affect the beam.

Hey my friend, I have been good thank you. Hope everything is OK on your end.
That is strange??? Let us know if you unravel the mystery?
Was it in good shape when it arrived???

Hmm though not a drama that “Z1” scribbled box does not look or feel premium.
OK the brown Jaxman box is not a Olight case but opening it and seeing all the parts in their own slot certainly gives the impression of the care that went into the product.
I was one of the people who requested a host individually very early on. That was before any group conversation, just because I asked for one directly.
They weren’t really prepared to sell many hosts and filled at least one early order — mine — by sending out the full commercial box package — before they figured out that we’d keep wanting hosts beyond the early few requests.
I asked why I got more than I expected and the reply was it was the easy way to make sure the package got out to me promptly in good shape.
I was and am grateful. I wouldn’t expect that if I buy another host now, as I probably will.
By now they must be organized to set the host parts aside, and send them in the typical padded bags, rather than using the full commercial box packaging.

When did you order this?
I agree! One also must realize that I did not order a host; I ordered a factory light for $50.85 + $7.28 shipping! So, picky or not, I did expect the brown factory box. Furthermore, I tend to wonder if this light was used! The lens was not the typical “factory shiny” lens and chipped on one edge. Not only is the box a plain box but it is all wrinkled and previously had something written in pen then the model Z1 and tint 1A had been written over that in Sharpie. Lastly, others have stated their lights did not come from Singapore while this one did. For $58.13 I did expect this to be in proper order.
This was ordered on Sept. 10, 2016 and arrived yesterday Oct. 3, 2016. Here is the tracking # which clearly shows it came from Singapore; RB093395780SG. Also, under my description in parenthesis is the name Paul Bo? I presume this is someone from the Jaxman company since the name under the two Convoy 18350’s is Simon Mao, who I know is with Convoy.
Brett, I went back and checked all of mine. They all shipped from China.
Also, Paul Bo is the owner. Jaxman himself……
You did buy it from his store on AliExpress didn’t you?? HERE
Heck, send him a PM here on BLF along with the picture and ask him what the deal is. From all indications he is a very nice guy, I’m sure he would not mind you asking.

Yes Sir! That is the place. Here is a link to what I ordered; Jaxman Z1
Shame nothing comes close to the XHP70 lumen wise, if you can get over the windows advert it projects on full spot mode then its ideal.
XPL or the XHP35 direct drive would be sweet too.
My Z1 got an Luminus SBT-70 for the round die and it’s ensuing round hot spot. I like it, as I simply adore the way they build this emitter, but it’s not an absolute kind of light due to horrible inefficiency of this emitter. Almost gave me a heart-attack.
P.S. But unfortunately it is only a mistake.
Yes, I used a 4S-16.8A MTN MAX buck driver set at 2.5A. (I got 2.8A at the tail)
I just ordered another Z1, and it shows an extension is include. My last one included the extension also.

Now I’m looking for a good host for a triple.
Sorry. I corrected the wording.
Dale.
I ordered my driver with the 6mm coilcraft inductor for fit. The external inductor is too tall.
This is why it’s nice to have more than one pill (grin)
Glad you brought up the “box” Dale. Could you tell me what kind of box your host came it? I just ordered a factory Z1 and it didn’t come with the factory box shown in the pictures. Mine came in a brown cardboard box that said Jaxman on it. It had foam compartments that all th individual parts fit into.
Mine did also, both the hosts and the factory built ones. That was a couple of months ago however.

Thanks Ouchyfoot and Teacher. The brown logo box is exactly what I had expected. However, it instead came as pictured.
Also, it shipped from Singapore. Is this where your Z1’s shipped from?
