$40 Yeti SS Cup vs Walmart $10 SS cup comparison test

So a lot of my friends tease me for having bought a few Yeti cups and then shorty after that Walmart came out with an Ozark Trail copy of it for roughly $30 less than mine. I did a test with both cups to see which one would hold ice longer, you may be surprised at the results. Check it out here

I don’t have these type of insulated cups, and I have no jokes to make about people who buy them. Enlighten me, are you using them to keep cold things cold, or hot things hot? Do these things typically hold 20 oz or so? My neighbor has one and was telling me about it, and I really didn’t understand the usefulness of keeping such a small amount of drink cold compared to the price. He said it would keep his drink cold for days, and I would need several drinks during those days not just one, which negates the usefullness to me. Myself, when I’m hot or in hot environment, tend to drink my beverage quickly, leaving nothing to be kept cold. Am I unique in that way? Honestly asking. I thought people bought them mostly for status.

Love this. thanks

I see at walmart they have Thermos brand stainless 2 quart vacuum containers for $18 that will keep things cold or hot for at least 12 hours, during which a human should be consuming the contents to stay hydrated. I see the yeti stuff as such overkill. Why do I need to keep a single portion of beverage cold for 4 days or whatever the claim is? How did this become so popular?

no problem, like my channel if you don’t mind. Im glad you enjoyed it.

I bought the Yeti before the other brand came out. I leave cups with ice throughout the day in my truck. In Virginia, its been around 100 degrees lately. It holds ice all day even under these conditions. Now, so does the Walmart brand version. Subscribe to my channel, if you don’t mind. Thanks for watching.

haha, Not sure. Ive never heard of that before. If you watched the video, it still had ice after 27 hours. I don’t need any more than that. Have a good one

They do both hot and cold.

A friend gave me a yeti 20oz (there are larger versions). I use it indoors every day. I fill it with large cubed ice from a tray. Fill with tap water or room temp soda/Gatorade. Refill usually 2-4 times over ~8 hours. After that long the ice is gone, but the liquid will stay cold for several more hours.

I used to use a large plastic 34oz insulated travel mug thing and I went through twice as much ice.

What really impressed me was when I went out fishing I filled it up with ice and soda. Hour and a half drive, one refill, left it in the truck, about 95 degrees outside, came back 4-5 hours later (outside temp down to about 80) and the ice was gone, but the liquid was still cold.

Walmart’s cup come in the 20 and 30 ounce version and they are the same cup as the Yeti, but marked Ozark.

The benefit is that the vacuum keeps refrigerator cool drinks, cool for hours, without having to use but a couple or 3 ice cubes, that means you pour a 30 ounce drink that stays cool through the hours that you drink it, and the vacuum keeps it from sweating, so even though it is hot at your desk, you don’t need a coaster.

When you pour your liquid from the refrigerator you don’t need any ice if you drink it within a reasonable time, or you can drop in a cube or two if you will be sipping on it for 2 hours, or a lot of ice if you are keeping it in your car all day during the summer.

The plastic vacuum glasses are great for summertime mixed drinks, they aren’t quite as efficient as the stainless steel, but they are more pleasing for cocktails, they come in 20 and 32 ounces.

Those Ozark Trail cups are hard to find in the stores. The best thing is to order them on the internet and have them delivered to your local store. I bought 85 of these with the intention of customizing them. Epoxy primer, college color car paint, and then a college vinyl decal. Would show some pictures but the only ones I have on hand are the Auburn Tigers, a big rival of my Georgia Bulldogs and a team I despise. Turns out it’s a lot more work than it seems.

Bought most on the internet and had them shipped to my house, 3 or 4 orders over a week before the first order had arrived. Shipped from two different warehouses. At least half of them had dents in them, Walmart just dumps them unprotected in a box with no packing, every shipment contained half dented cups. One box of 20 had a big split in the side and only 17 cups. Took most of the dented ones back to the local WM but who needs the hassle. If you want one order online and have it delivered to your local store.

As for quality, have tested them head to head against Yeti and Rtic, no difference between the three. Another good one for $10 is the Members Mark from Sam’s, they come two for $20 and have a closable drinking slot.

In the heat around here an uninsulated glass with ice will thaw within an hour or two. These will easily double or triple that time in 100F plus temps.

any suggestions on a better review? Im trying to get my youtube channel going as a hobby. I’m a recently disabled firefighter and have bunches of time on my hands. Thanks

I use an Engel brand 30 oz for coffee evry day, keeps my 24 oz of coffee hot well up into the aftrnoon if I get busy and don’t drink it.

A name brand Yeti will keep ice longer, which can be nice when on a day trip or when traveling. I use my Yeti for cold drinks and the Engel for coffee. The Engel has a screw on lid with a flip-over stopper to help prevent spills, agood idea for a boiling hot beverage.

didn’t know they had a cup either, I’ll check it out. I do not use my yeti for coffee. I have a Stanley I use for that

I used a Stanley cup for a decade or more, Stainless on the outside black plastic on the inside. This Engel keeps coffee hot a LOT longer! Still, it’s a different issue with heat and it’ll cool down eventually but at least it’s drinkable hot/warm well into the afternoon… maybe 7 hours or so? I like being able to stopper it so it doesn’t splash in the car.

They indicate it’s 100%, like you can turn it upside down, but mine isn’t that tight, at least not with hot coffee pressurizing it.
