Uh… brightness is fine, but tint is IMHO… ugly! It´s a very cold, “harsh” white, it hurts my eyes after looking at the nice 5000 K neutral light from the S41 Nichia ….
Sounds like everyone is happy with the XPG3 brightness and tint…ordering
Yeah i’m quite happy with the XP-G3 version.
Sure, it’s cool white, but it’s just a stupid amount of light the thing hurls out.
(especially with 18650 tube and VTC5)
I did put a mild diffuser film between optics and lens though, to get rid of some of the tint shift.
Just got my S41S head from Banggood. It had only level 7. Boy am I glad these are openable!!! A quick test with the driver hanging free showed it was fine. I suspected a negative short to the case and it looks like (thankfully only) the negative silicone wire was cut into by the unremoved sharp burrs on the inside of the hole in the copper leading from the driver cavity to the LED. An easy fix!
Hi.
In the first post is a picture of the S41S beamshot with XP-G3. I just want to confirm if that is what the others also got in their XP-G3 based lights?
I am planning to get one S41S in that tint and just want to make sure I won’t regret it later.
If you´re referring to tint, the picture in the first post is misleading IMHO. The XP-G3 looks almost identical to the Nichia variant in the beamshots, but in reality the XP-G3 has a cold, pure white tint, low CRI, around 6500 K. So don´t expect a neutral 5000 K tint in the XP-G3!

If you like a neutral tint, don’t go for the XPG3.Modded my xpg3 to a 219c triple for this reason.
I wasn’t a big fan of the (5700K)219b tint of my S41 either, but its better then the XPG3 version.
I have both versions. The original S41/E14 seem to have a yellow tint shift and S41S does not. I prefer the S41S, but not the weight…so I now use a S41S head with the S41 18650 tube/tail cap. It makes it a much lighter flashlight.
I don’t really know … I own one of the first S41 (received back in June) , and it worked perfectly out of the box .
Still works great .

Thanks for your opinions, i think i will buy the S41S in stainless steel. Of course with Nichia.
Where are you guys getting your 18350 cells from? All the shops I’ve looked at are either out of stock or won’t ship to Canada (FastTech i’m looking at you)
Do you know details about the driver?
Is it similar to the S41 driver? Similar firmware but without OTC? Does it realy have this performance?
Is this a firmware from the BLF or does Astrolux or the manufacturer has changed the Firmware to eSwitch?
Thanks, a few have said that the 219 tint isn’t that nice, might get the XPG3
Thats what I did, plus it is a bit cheaper. I would rather get the G3 version and enjoy the brightness and then swap to some LED’s of my choice later.
I have a mixed tint XP-G2 S41 that is great and a 219C 90+ CRI that is also great.

i just got mine as well and the tint is close to XP-L HI V3 3D. I mean it’s still neutral white…

The XP-G3 version is the brightest version because XP-G3 has the lowest Vf and probably the most lumens per Watt too.
219b- better tint & very nice CRI
xpg3- noticeable much brighter & throw slightly farther
Very nice comparison shots, thanks a lot!

I received my two units from aliexpress, like everyone else, it’s the new version.
I’m VERY happy, it looks like high quality stuff and the price was damn great !
My first quad led, but not the last one.

Hi, my doubt comes from the problems that had the S41S at first, if in the black version are solved like the last S41S.
