Budget 2 x 26650 for modding (not zoomie) ?

As above.
I know that I can get the L6 in host form but any suggestions for any other cheap 2 × 26650 lights to mod or hosts ?

The driver even supports 6v emitters, you could double the output by just dropping a XHP50 in there. Mine has a MT-G2 making about 1,800lm. Not the best build quality or anodizing but cheap enough to play with.

Have you thought about using 2× 26350 cells in single 26650 hosts?

Not really as it would mean me specifically buying another sized cell, where as I have plenty of 26650 cells.

The only place that I can find the Yetzl Y3 is Fasttech for $36 (with extension tube), is that about right ?
For a few dollars more ($40) I can buy an L6 host, which I would imagine is a better build quality.
Then again for $65 I can buy a complete L6 & with a code I can probably get it for $60 ?
No wonder the “S70” clone at $19 didn“t happen Facepalm

Even cheaper than 50$ with a code from M4D M4X:

That is very cheap for such a great light.
I wonder if M4D M4X could do a code for the clear L6 ?
