Dive Light 26650 Battery Plastic Cover Tearing

I and using dive lights that take 2ea 26650 batteries, and the EVVA’s that I use are getting caught when I remove them to recharge.

The plastic cover on the battery is black and underneath it is light green.

These batteries work great for my purpose as far as powering my light.

“EVVA 5200mAh 26650 Protected Button Top Battery”

I am wondering if these are re-branded and the black outer cover can be safely pulled off?

Thanks!

The extra wrapper covers the bare metal strip from the protection pcb to the + terminal. If you pull off the outer layer you would need to replace that as it also holds the protection pcb in place.

It’s also possible the outer cover is just a rebranding label but if you are planning a dive trip soon I’d suggest having plans B and C (new heat shrink tubes, or new cells) in mind before pulling the outer casing.

-> 26650 PVC Heat Shrink Wrap

Thanks for the ideas!

I’ve ordered the “26650 PVC Heat Shrink Wrap” just in case my batteries are not re-branded and I have to reapply the outer wrapper

Also ordered a 27 mm sanding stone drill bit to try and smooth off the edges to keep this from happening again.

And I will order a couple of extra batteries I hate to blow a dive trip over messed up batteries!

Good luck and let us know if you have any problems with that.
