Walmart has some 18500's and 18650s on clearance

any of these a good buy? i saw these in the garden clearance area.

westinghouse 4pcs 18500 1000mah for $3.00, was $10.97
westinghouse 4pcs 18650 2000mah for $7.00, was $13.97
duracell 2pcs 18500 1000mah life for $5.00, was $9.97

In what department at Walmart did you see these?

I have had terrible luck with the westinghouse ones in lights. The prices look good, but two of the four of my westinghouses have leaked on 2A lights…

The duracell would be worth a shot, as would the 18500’s if you had a use for them…

I have found these in the garden section most often.

it’s near the garden area clearance. they grouped the garden and back to school in 1 clearance isle at the walmart i went to. i went back today and saw the 4pcs 2000mah 18650’s for $4 each, basically a dollar a battery. i bought 4 packs. how do i know if they’re protected or not? i’m getting the urge to order some convoy c8’s.

Wow…first I’ve ever heard of Lith Ion batteries LEAKING.

So are you saying the 14500 westinghouses leaked in a 1 x AA light?

+1 Yeah, I’ve also never heard of a Li-Ion leaking. Please explain!

LOL David …you quoted me as I edited …guess I look drunK again???LOL

I’ll consider fixing that quote for a small fee… :money_mouth_face: :stuck_out_tongue:

Unfortunately my Walmart only carries the 18500 duracells. Not the westing house or Duracell in 18650. Guess its not popular enough for my area. I would think they would work well for 3 amp and under. Or for night lights I use 2000mah is enough to make it all night on moonlight or low setting of a light. $4 a pack I’d buy every single pack. Open one pack test them out. If they worked great keep them if they didn’t do well return the remaining packs. Anyone know if Lowes carries 18650? I’m curious to see what manufactures are putting out for the general uninformed masses of people

The lights were made for co workers and were some old P60 hosts I got for $5 each. They had 6 x 7135 drivers with LVP and three modes. The guys I gave them to were sharp enough to understand what the hazards are on LiIon. I had bought a four pack of the WalMart Westinghouse 18650’s and they had decent internal resistance and sound the 2000ma rating according to my Lii-500. I gifted the lights and a few weeks later one of the fellas says his battery wasn’t lasting long. When I looked at the battery, it had evidence of moisture on the top of the battery around the + terminal.

I checked the battery on my Lii-500 and the resistance was 90mohms or over double what it was previous (~40mohms). I disposed of the battery and gave him a good spare efest I had (2000mah). The second guy had the same issue a couple of weeks later, disposed of the rest of the Westinghouse 18650’s and will buy better batteries for stuff like this… May have just been physically old batteries, but not worth the risk to me.

If your looking for good batteries to gift and not in a huge rush for them gearbest hss the Panasonic 18650b cells for $23-25 for 8 usually. Good high quality cells for sub 5 amps current.

Curiosity got the best of me so I suffered on over to WalMart. Sure enough, in the garden section I found them.

The 2 pack of 18500 3.2V LiFePo4 was $2.50, The 18650’s were not priced.
So I had to bring them over to a price scanner.
$7! more than I was expecting, but then again these are the new, faster 2000 MHz ones
