XHP35 HI flashlight options

Watched a review vid from Going Gear last night comparing the Klarus XT11S and XT11GT. The S looks good, XP-L HI, well driven, etc etc. The GT is essentially the same light, but uses the XHP35 HI LED. And simply looks like it makes the XP-L HI completely redundant.

Brighter, better beam and more throw.

So my question is, due to the lack of drivers and easy build components to make a nice single 18650 XHP35. What off the shelf options would be advise?

I’ve found it somewhat hard to know what is out there, as not every makers offers them. And those that do, don’t always make it obvious what LED is being used, so it’s hard to search for them.

I like the Klarus, but it has no moonlight or NW option. Which is a shame. These are must haves, but are desirable. Anyone able to recommend some lights to consider.

No real direction in terms of use, other than ‘impressive’. It’s a toy, not a work horse. That said, good output and throw would be preferred. i.e. something that exceeds an XM-L2 or XP-L HI.

I’ve been looking into the Acebeam EC60, 2,000 lumens and close to 100kcd.

Hopefully we can get a good deal on this…

Moreover, according to datasheet, XHP35 is available with 90+ CRI even at 5000K and 5700K CCT. But no flashlight manufacturer seems to be using those :frowning:

I think the problem is the price right now. Performance to price vs a XPL-HI is crazy. Plus a direct drive XPL-HI could possibly be giving you 1600 lumen any ways. With not that many drivers options for the XHP35. Unless its a special build its hard to justify.

I have the Manker U21 and it is a very good ‘spot light’. It uses the XHP35-Hi with a smooth reflector and I use this light as a compact version of a good throw light.

Tom E has a good review:

Can say same to XP-G3 vs XP-L HI.

Hows the tint? I am only seeing this light is cw.

I’ve been waiting for the NW option for the U21 to be available from mankerlight.com but have been disappointed every time I check the website

I can not choose i love them both lol. The XPG3 is just a tad wider then the XPL-HI so at distance performance drops. If you know a good way to DE-dome the XPG3 you have a winner i have tried a few and no go. But overall power of the XPG3 can not be beaten it rips XPL and XML2 my set ups yield 7 amps with the XPG3s and they handle it like a champ. I think the problem with the XHP35 is more so drivers how much is a direct drive going to cost. Plus you need to step up the voltage from 4 to 12 volts so how many amps are going to be using? If you are using a cell single of course. This is why i think using a light like the L2 makes sense seeing as you can run two cells series.

I am fine with the tint, but I would prefer a 5000K 3A tint.

The small size makes up for the less than ideal tint.

Well rightly or wrongly I ordered an Armytek Predator Pro V3 yesterday.

It doesn’t look to be the most powerful or most throwy XHP35. But I’ve not owned an Armytek before.

Claims it’s CW, but only 5500k. SMO reflector and the mode selection and physical size are appealing.

Amazingly the Armytek arrived yesterday!!!

It’s nice….

I love the XHP35 from testing it out of a light but sadly it is quite hard to get a light to work with them as they need 4s cells or a boost driver. Both of which are hard to get a host for.

I want to put one in an L2 but have yet to figure out a driver for it besides an LD-2 or mtnmax, both of which are pretty pricy.

There is BTU PK26. It’s XHP35, it has moonlight, turbo and NW option. And looks nice.

For a build Jaxman X1 (probably this one with 22mm driver hole) host + 22m one-cell boost driver from KD (though the modes are probably bad) + the XHP35 should be the easiest and probably the cheapest combo. Though I don’t see much point in it.

I bought the Jaxman X1 host for a XHP35 HI because of the 22mm driver size it’s easier to find a boost driver that fits.

X1 XHP35 HI D4 1A, boostdriver, Keeppower 26650 protected, approximately 700m to the windmill

nice, what driver you used?

This

Mode spacing is not that great though and it’s ontime memory. I was looking at this but it’s on Taobao.

thanks,it would be nice to be able to order from tao :frowning:

I have actually been looking into this myself, everything was fine until it wanted me to use alipay. No way in heck am I giving them my SS number among other things just to buy some cheap flashlight parts.
