Hi guys! I would like to ask for your opinion/suggestion on what options should I use for my EDC with wide spill of light, I dont mind the throw distance, just the wider/floodier the beam is, the better. My current choices are skillhunt h03 and astrolux s41.
Other floody light suggestion is highly appreciated. Thank you guys!
Edit:
I haven’t mentioned that I already have Astrolux S1/BLF A6…
Can you recommend an optic? Are there any optics that can simply be switched into the Astrolux S1? If not, what would I have to do to make an optic fit?
I’ve turned a lot of throwers into (temporary) flooders by snapping on an appropriately sized translucent bottle cap, or a plastic chair leg tip with the end cut out and a piece of diffusing plastic fitted in.
My Crelant CH10 headlamp is fitted like that, I just tuck the homemade diffuser in my pocket and apply as necessary.
Specific lights for specific jobs is great but sometimes it’s fun, and a lot cheaper, to improvise.
With the S1 I am not sure how the TIR would fit as you can not adjust the pill height.
If you want a flooder I would indeed do a flood TIR (you can get them from lots of places, any 20mm tir should work) I would get a convoy S2+. The lens swap is a simple drop in affair. Simon even has a video showing how to do it. Heck he might do it for you if you request before buying.
which has wider beam angle Klarus G20 or Acebeam EC50 Gen II? I Just need something that can illuminate also at least few cm in front of my foot so that I could see what I step on without pointing the flashlight downward, just like those with TIR lenses, and Astrolux S41 also has wider beam spill even without TIR lens. Thank you very much for the help!
I recommend the S3 Triple from mtnelectronics. Just get all the Carclo optics with it and see what you like best. They’re all floodier than the Astrolux S41 quad. The combo of DrJones H17F Driver and Nichia 219C is amazing.
Yeah S2+ 4 or 6 x 7135 chips for longer runtimes
Then wide angle tir for hotspot free beam
Clip and magnet (and tir) from Simon
Some color matching shrinkwrap and magnets to put on the clip and the ideal EDC is born
