Anybody ever been inside a Nitecore SRT7? Emitter swap?

I’ve had a SRT7 for about a year now and sans a spring bypass on both ends it’s managed to remain stock. The itch has finally come around to get rid of the cool white XML2 and swap in a neutral XPL HI. The bezel and lens come off no problem but I’m nervous about digging in any further because of the colored leds around the outside. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks as always.

I dedomed mine before HI emitters where available, I don’t remember how the leds are in place but I remember I hadn’t any problems putting it all back together…

If you do happen to swap, would you post up pics if possible? I just got an SRT7 and right now it’s my favorite light for running. I wish it did throw and spread a bit more as well as last longer though. But its a nice size and best part for me is that selector ring and tailswitch. Ideal for my use.

I’ve also been looking if there are any extender tubes for this so I could add another battery but doesnt appear to exist.

thanks

You can swop led easelly, even without disassembling the head just remove the bezel, take out the reflector and desolder red and black emitter wire, take out the LED on mcpcb and that is it…

What is the size of the mcpcb? I’ve been thinking of swapping the emitters on my SRT3, 5, and 6.

Iam not 100% sure, didnt measure it but I think something about 17-18mm

I’ll give it a shot when I get home. Thanks. I was afraid the RGB leds were attached to the reflector so I stopped there figuring I should seek advice.

They are not attached to reflector but underneath of them there is a foamy ring with glue that holds them tight to reflector, but nothing is glued to the reflector, you can take him without problems

Very good sir. Came out exactly as you described. I should mention that there is a transparent silicone ring sitting on top of the reflector that needs to come out then the reflector just falls out.

Thanks again.

:+1:

Well, if you want to use original mcpcb for emitter then your choice is limited. Maybe there are leds in XM size that are factory dedomed (you would need that to get better throw) but I am not aware of that. If you decide to change factory mcpcb (which will require some DIY because factory mcpcb is not off the shelf product + its thinner than regular mcpcb) and use XP led then you can go with XPL HI.
