Astrolux S41 quality issues?

Helo everyone! This is my first post here.
First, let me thanks to BLF, i’m starving every month and thanks for teaching me alot of things here.
Recently, i bought a Astrolux S41 from Banggood and it came last week. As a beginner i must say i am excited because this is my first expensive light. After opened the box, i immediately saw a dark fingerprint on the copper fins area, it looks oxidized or something and cannot be rub off :frowning:
Later that night while playing with the flashlight… i realized another issue which the head and the tail cap does not screw in entirely leaving a gap on both end of the body (Sorry if i sounds picky). I’ve tried changing to 18650 body and the gap is even bigger than the 18350 tube. Also, i found rust spot on the stainless steel pen clip…
Is there any1 here experienced the same issue? And how can i remove the fingerprint on the copper area?
I am sorry if my first post looks like a complaint post which i don’t wish to be and dont get me wrong, i still love this light!

I think you are a bit picky, but I guess we all are here, welcome to the club!

What the point is of this flashlight is the extreme performance. And that for a retail price that is low for what you get. The fact that it is an elegant classy looking flashlight is a bonus for this price.

As for the imperfections that you noticed, I would notice them too, but I do not see them as things that should be fixed. If you really want that, you could sand a tiny bit off both ends of the battery tube to make the gap smaller, but don’t go too far because electrical contact from the tail to the driver is establihed by the ends of the battery tube, you could loose contact!

You are picky. I am picky. Most of us are picky. I think you are supposed to be picky  I don’t own one, but I do believe to have read others with the same mini gap. Some have indeed sanded the tube down a bit as djozz has described. I personally don’t see this as a flaw, but I do consider it a design imperfection that I certainly would not like to see on my light. This light is manufactured by Manker, and Manker has been plagued with production issues/flaws for some time. They are also aware of this and are working on it…

Thanks djozz and hIKARInoob. Well, i guess i am picky… hahah
I also realized 1 side of the thread is fully anodized unlike other flashlight which has exposed end…
Any idea how can i remove the fingerprint on the copper area? will it turned darker after some time if i polished it? is there any protective coating on it?

Isn’t the astrolux a BangGood copy of the Manker e14?

The e14 doesn’t appear to have gaps like yours.

Manker is the original maker of the Astrolux S41 but now Banggood has a new manufacturer

Yes mattjk… As hIKARInoob mentioned, Astrolux S41 is also built by Mankers… im not sure of any1 bought Manker e14 experienced this issue… mine had a 1mm gap on both end… :frowning:

Try to find the right sized o-ring to fill the gaps.

I also have an S41.

I have a small gap at the tail cap[did not notice until now!]. I do NOT have any gap at the head.

this was not manufactured by manker ,I think we have to say something about it.</p>

Then how come it has “MANKER” written on the driver?!!!

DO YOU KNOW COPY?

So which astrolux are manufactured by manker? none?

we will tell the truth tomorrow.I can tell this light was not made by manker.

lol!!! lol!!! What is WRONG with telling the TRUTH today!!! :person_facepalming:

haha… wolfdog relax…
Let manker explain tomorrow… i think many here would like to hear about it…

I am relaxed! I understand,he needs time to think of some good answers!

2 beers are not enough,I need 20!

Chinese original products copied by chinese OEM copiers …. Oh the irony! :zipper_mouth_face:

OK serious question: if the E14 was an original design by Manker and was sold by BG under Astrolux label (clearly with you permission) how come they are allowed to copy your design and brand name afterwards?!? Or did you develop and sold the whole design and market rights to BG ?!? I will never understand how chinese companies do business with each other …

K.

There have been threads shut down because of fighting over this issue. The short of it is that Manker cut ties with Banggood and Astrolux a while ago, after other fiascos. If Manker says they didn’t make this one, I believe them.

BG seem to copy quite a few manufacturers lights, they did the same with the Cometa, except they did it badly and big button top 26650s were shorting
