Yes, to everybody still waiting, it really is worth the wait! In a way, the anticipation is why a group project on BLF is so much fun.

I already booked a weekend away just to make sure that doesn’t happen Silly
Fortunately it is so big, she can’t leave the house with the GT without everybody noticing it Wink

@ Djozz, if I shine it in your direction, you might actually see it from your house Big Smile

I just found out new way to turn off switch light without going to setings for that.
Simply turn it on ,ramp it a little bit up,and then down to the lowest level and as soon as you get lowest output just fast single click to turn it off Big Smile

Results with no switch lit up,at least for me..

I just tested the current, 2.3Amp@16.4V=37.7Watt. Nice, but now off to the mod topic Party

Another successful arrival.

First 555, registered mail with batteries, arrived in a single box in Canada

The light is in perfect condition though I was worried by a heavy puncture that went through both cardboard boxes

Minor but noticeable rings on the reflector, nothing I’m worried about because it still has a nice tight spot IMO

I only have one 4 bay charger and these cells are low. I wont be able to do a full strength run untill tomorrow night.

Thanks GT Team

Ha, found it, thanks to the church and the V&D pinnacle lining up so nicely. A bit far for the GT to shine all the way to me but still close Smile

There are two ways to switch the switch light temporarily off:
1. from OFF: Switch it ON and OFF
2. ramp a bit and switch it OFF
For both methods you had to be quick and use a sharp button press ( that fast button press )

Up and down ramping isn’t necessary, but if you like it, nothing against it Smile

Temporarily means: The switch stays dark till the next use.

Received mine today. One box in perfect condition.

I have just tested it on a target at 800m away and it’s noticeably brighter than my TN42 NW. The GT reaches trees behind the target that the TN42 isn’t capable of. Unfortunately i don’t have the gear to take decent beamshots.

I really enjoy the warm tint too. Great, great job GT Team! Thumbs Up

Sorry, but we already have 60 more people signed up than we do lights. We are actually hoping a few more people drop out or decide not to buy so that those who really want it will have a better chance of getting one.

Repost:

In case anyone missed it, I’ll probably repost this every now and then.

I have some news on emitter swaps.

I talked to Richard at Mountain Electronics (RMM on these forums and a sponsor here) and told him there might be more than a few guys with GT’S interested in swapping to a cooler tint. He says that if you send in your stock mcpcb to him and buy one of his new XHP35-HI emitters, he will reflow it for free! He has 2 choices right now, 5,000k and 5700k tint. They are both the same D4 brightness bin as the stock GT 4000k emitter.

The cost of both are under $8, plus the shipping cost there and back. I’m in Texas and shipping a small package from him is usually $2 to $3. So I would estimate the entire cost at under $15.

From his store:

Quote:
BLF GT LED SWAP

Don’t like the tint of your BLF GT XHP35 HI?  Send us your MCPCB and we’ll swap it for this one.

Please ship your BLF GT MCPCB to us and we will swap it, test it, clean it, and send it back to you.

Your entire order will not ship until we receive the LED and get it ready to ship.

Ship to:

Mountain Electronics LLC
8076 S. Box Canyon Rd.
West Jordan, UT 84081

Here is the link to the 5000k.

Here is the link to the 5700k.

If your outside of the USA, then I’m not sure what shipping would be or if he even does international shipping. You’d have to contact him for details.

Did you look at post #1 and fill out that form? Madmax can tell you if you have a tracking number or not. If no tracking number, you might be one of the last 50 folks whose light hasn’t shipped yet.

Lumintop probably has the lights built, but in post 18555 TA said the reflectors aren’t expected until late this week or early next week. So if the reflectors come in early next week, they will probably ship out a few days later.

Tonight I went out with Nico to check our GT’s. It was minus 6 degC and quite windy so after 5 minutes out there we called it a day because our hands were too cold to even push a button. But I managed to take this beamshot on one of the huge pilons that carry the powerlines over the IJ, left is Nico’s GT, right is mine. The lighted part is at about 130 meters high up, but because of our distance to the pilon, I estimate the distance at 180 meter. The big hotspot in the sky is the moon.

We could by just visibly hit the other pilon at 700 meter with our GT’s, but they are pretty dark grey so they are not easy targets.

I only got a tube today. Box was crashed a little but it was dry and the tube and carriers are in perfect condition. The head tracking doesn’t moved since a week.

That tube is HUGE!

Finally I also got my GT.

Both parcels (registered) arrived at the same day, 2 days ago.
Shipping took only 15 days…

Both packages looked punched a little bit, but mainly undamaged and what’s even more important: the GT arrived in mint condition!

And yes!
This piece of art, makes you giggle.
It’s Unreal! And very heavy!

My amateur lumen measurements in the toilet using ceilingbounce on my S7 (calibrated with an Acebeam K60) shows 2.100lm.
This for sure isn’t right, because of the beam characteristics of the GT.
Unfortunately I didn’t have time to really test it in the wild.
Like a large dog, this thing needs run. Wink

Congratulations to the team and everyone involved in helping to create this beauty!

This thing is worth waiting for it much, much longer!

I’m looking forward to getting the second pm for ordering a second one.
They are best held in pairs Wink

I finally received my BLF-GT on Tuesday from the group buy.. and OMG… this thing is as close to a 3-inch wide white laser beam i have ever handled. I agree it is BIG, very big, and built like a Abrams tank for weight in a single emitter light, but it is built with very high quality & precision. I can finally put my massive Cyclops HID 10-lb light to rest-in-peace, as this thing is the first LED flashlight i have to out-throw it, and its lighter & smaller than the Cyclops HID oddly to say. So i’m going to duct-tape five modified Imalent DX80 32000 lumen lights around it to add some flood to the GT, and use it for a new pocket EDC. (photos soon, but kidding about adding five DX80s, will take photos of the GT throwing in comparison to my modded 26650-DST super thrower, TK75vn, Olight M3XS-UT Javelot, Modded Thorfire C8, and the DX80 flood-blaster for fun.

Well, I changed the date on the 3rd batch of PM’s saying they go out early March instead of late Feb, since Feb is now gone.

I’m hoping Texas_Ace will give a couple days announcement before he sends them out so that people can be on the look out.

There’s really not much news to add.

Carry on.

It would be cool to see some photos of the GT from the POV of a chopper door gunner shining down searching for targets…
