If I were to do all of them, it'd take quite a long time. What would be fun would be a way of collating all the information in one place - probably need a lot of hyperlinking to make it useful or the result would be a monstrous mess. I think I have around 100 lights now - will try to get them all in one place and count them some time soon.

The numbers from my light tests are always to be found here.

Do you have an ITP A3 to test?

Afraid not. Unless Lightake comes up with a good offer...

I think the ITP A3 would be a good reference point. From all the tests I've seen, the NIMH high is always close to the manufacturer's rated 80 lumens.

The Fenix E01 seems to be a reliable 11 lumens

AFAIK the Preon 2 with new alkalines on high is 160 lumens - this is my only calibration point at present.

Thanks for your continued hard work Don!  I made a copy of that list into word to keep as reference.  I hope you don't mind.  Thank again Don!

@Don - thanks a lot! That info at least doubles the usefulness of the chart for me Smile

Where I have them, I'll try to link to runtime graphs which give the same sort of information but over a longer period.

A lumen/lux table with links to details (reviews?) = pure awesomeness.

Thanks again for what you do Big Smile

That's the plan.

However, have you looked at the inline HTML editor? Try it on data from a table of any size. Better still, don't.

I'm probably going to have to build the table in an external application.

Then I can put in links to my heart's desire.

This is going to take some time.

I've been looking around and I have a lot of reviews I need to finish....

But I do plan to link to good reviews regardless of who did them. This will require a bit of thought and design to prevent the result being an unreadable mess.

Then maybe use Google Docs?

Example with one hyperlink just to prove it's working:

https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AplkeaML5HxCdE9KejFCVnM5enA5M1F...

You also gain the nice ability to sort by name/lumen/whatever.

Looks like a very worthwhile place to investigate. Ultimately, what I want to do is a website in a table. How far that is possible within the time I have available is another matter.

But if Google Docs prevents me having to fight with M$ Office bugs then it's OK with me. I detest Microsoft software - I have spent too much time fighting it to do what i want. In a Word (95/97/2003) document it is not possible to embed more than 31 live spreadsheets. It will let you embed more than that, but the document will never open again. Got bitten by that one for the woman I love's thesis. The time to find this out is certainly not two days before the deadline when the data was still trickling in.

I will investigate Google Docs. I can do all of this in Excel (spit!) but not as live HTML. Pity I completely loathe Google and prefer not to use their products at all. Frankly, I'd rather use Microsoft than Google. And that is from someone who has been using Macs since 1989 and various Unix variants since about the same time.

Just don't ask me to use Solaris! (Slowlaris!) Despite owning a couple of Sun boxes.

Unfortunately - I have a strange feeling that you will find more bugs in beta GDocs than in stationary Word/Excel...

Its main strength is mobility, not functionality. But still very useful in some cases.

You are right about Google - it's everywhere.

Photos? Picasa. Docs? GDocs. Search engine? Hmmmm... Bing? Wink

Still, there are some exceptions... I do not have Google in my phone (Windows Mobile > Android) and browser (Firefox > Chrome).

Anyway - it was just a hint Smile

Hugsby P32 low NiMH and the showerhead on 3 8,000mAh D cells. I'll also run the showerhead on 6Ds but that will take a while. Runtime for the showerhead going now - I expect about 7 hours.

The Trustfire Z1 gets hot on high. Nothing intolerable at two minutes but feels like it is going to get hotter. Will investigate in due course.

Hi Don

i take it the showerhead is the Fusion 36

if it is there is a noticable jump in output on the ceiling bounce test  when it is fed 7.2v and over but it dose not like beeing over driven past 9v as recomended by the manufacturer

i ran one on 3 x 18500s = 12.20v  all in the name of science you understand Wink oh and i wanted to see how long it would last Surprised the regulater circit burnt out after 2 hours but it was giving my terralux M300 a run for its money

I make this little lot 51 different lights. Will add the other 50 or so in due course. But it is going to take a while.

This invalidates all of my lumen estimates. Even if we say the Preon 2 on alkalines is 160 lumens at switch on the numbers change quite a bit. The first table is the numbers using the previous assumptions.

Since my dividing factor is now 892 (at best) instead of 720 I'll do a new post with new numbers. The numbers in this table feel too high anyway so a downscaling will likely get it into more sensible territory.

The numbers from my light tests are always to be found here.

* - An ancient alkaline. Will restest with a brand new one. The cell in there is at least 3 years old.

** - battery on light meter gave out. Will redo the test.

*** - Pulled off keyring to test. Needs to be retested with a fresh cell. I think it is the same one the light came with.

**** - Pulled out of office desk drawer. There's a theme here - I think I need to buy a big box of AAA alkalines.

***** - At some point I will go through the multiplicity of modes this one has. Don't hold your breath.

6* - I'd not trust the two minute reading too much - I was using protected 10440s and the protection kept kicking in - need to test this with a good unprotected 10440.

7* - This still feels too high to me - I guess around 280

8* - Need to do this with the 8,000mAh NiMH Ds which seem to have lower internal resistance.

9* - This one is usually said to be around 350-370 lumens but that may just be that the cells in it were at 4.2V

There are several lights in here to be retested. Must get around to building balancing harnesses so I can charge more lithium cells at a time. That way I can pull cells from the charger and guarantee uniform performance unless I have a dud cell. See my comments on the R5-A3 for the startling effects a dud cell can cause.

The numbers from my light tests are always to be found here.

This is now up to 59 different lights, and quite a few more to come. I'll focus on filling out the gaps I think before adding many more lights. This table also needs current draw and throw numbers (Which will be very tedious to do but will get done in due course). I'm not keen on putting in full specifications as it'd get too unwieldy but with hyperlinking something may be sorted. Wading through the morass of HTML that is a table is no fun at all though. Ultimately, temperature and runtime data and links to standardised beamshots would come in handy. Sadly, i have a day job so this lot is going to take some considerable time or never get done. Meanwhile, here are some numbers. If anyone wants the spreadsheet from which this is generated, PM me with an email address and I'll email it.

Wow. You're just great. I think this is the most exhaustive flashlight numbers comparison ever Smile

As for the source doc, don't bother - it took me 10 seconds to create a spreadsheet out of your table Laughing

At least of affordable ones - I spent several hours last night wading through 39 pages of the CPF equivalent to get some reasonably accurate data points. There is almost a complete lack of overlap. Two dropins and about 3 lights.

The numbers from my light tests are always to be found here.

I use your list a lot. Good work!

With your permission I make my own spreadsheet very easy by marking the whole list

here, then open my Excel and copy it into a new sheet. Then I format the cells to the

height and width of my liking.

Hi Don

On your review on the Uniquefire S10 on Jayki.com you state in one of the comments

that the S10 is brighter than the S1.

In the above table its the other way round. Please, could you explain this difference, thanks.
