Olight R50 PRO Seeker LE review (3200 lumen,XHP70,26650)

Greetings,

This review will be dedicated to a new flashlight from Olight, the R50 PRO seeker LE.

First of all, why such a long name?

There are different modifications of the R50 model, varying in materials used and bundled extras. The PRO LE is aimed at Law Enforcers (that’s what LE stands for in this case) and has more power and more bundled accessories in order to aid Law enforcers.
The flashlight comes with a charging dock with an emergency light function, a home and car chargers and two dock holders that can be used in different locations. The flashlight uses a more powerful LED (Cree XHP70 vs CREE XHP50), and has 3200 lumen brightness vs the 2500 that the regular version has.

Shall we begin?

The flashlight comes in a large carton box (much larger than of the regular R50 version).

The flashlight comes with a semi-rigid holster. Due to the flashlight shape, the flashlight can be put only head-up in the holster.

A bit more extras…

The flashlight comes with a battery chargers both for use indoors and inside a car. There is also a single battery charging dock and two holders for that docking station, together with mounting accessories.

A bit more details.

Power adapters. 12v 1.5 A in both cases.

Here is the charging dock. There is only one dock, and two dock holders. The emergency light can be switched on/off using the switch.

Here is the light inside the charging dock. There is a special part holding the charger inside the holder.

Here is the light. It is much smaller than I imagined.

The battery is proprietary one, with both leads located at one side. All the charging happens inside the tailcap, and it is contacting both battery leads. The flashlight can work also using regular 26650 batteries, it won’t be able to charge them.

Comparison with the regular R50 model. As you can see the regular model is a bit longer. The length is affected by the longer tailcap - when we switch tailcaps the R50 PRO is the long one.
R50 can be used inside the R50 PRO charger with the PRO tailcap, only the emergency light function won’t be available.

You have to mount the flashlight this way if you want to use the emergency light function.

A short comparison with another 3200 lumen light. Please note that the Mini Intimidator 2 uses 3 18650 batteries, and the R50 Pro uses only one 26650.

The indicator changes from red to orange and to green during the charging process.

The button itself is firm and comfortable to use.

Let’s see it in action?

At all the below photos is the same order - forst comes the Olight R50, then the Intimidator 2 and the R50 PRO.

Well … a great light. After using it I can say that I no longer want to use the Intimidator, because the R50 pro has very similar light, but in much more compact form factor.

Conclusions, final words

Another great light. I am sure that it will be a pleasure to use, and the 5 year warranty is not something to be ignored, in a professional flashlight.
