Absolutely! The S2+ especially would make for a great addition to a stationary (first aid, bug out/in and others) kit – the vibrant color means any little light that hits the torch will make it visible. (fun fact: that’s why I love stainless steel pocket clips)
Okay, I understand.
Selling fluo yellow S2+ hosts would probably be best then.
When shipping costs (to NL) are fair i’m interested.
Maybe start an interested list.

Shipping will be as cheap as possible
UK shipping is £3.95 for an S2+ sized package
International shipping is £6-8 ish
That sounds good, I’m sure there will be many interested (and maybe me)
Does powdercoating act as a thermal insulator much? A bit does not matter me, but if it totally spoils the heatpath, that does matter.
There has been a lot of talk about this, to me, it’s not noticible in a standard single emitter (2-3A) light
There’s just not enough heat to make much difference (in my opinion)
You may lose some heat dissipation but you gain a lot of protection (vs anodising)

If it’s a WTB list already, please don’t include me. I’m a fan of the concept, but I’m in such dire financial straits I can’t afford it.
This may sound petty, but I’d be interested if you’re starting with one of the metal-button hosts. If you’re building on the basic black, with the rubber tail switch, I’m a lot less interested.

I’m not in but just throwing in my 2¢ worth: When doing some of my flashlight builds here, the most commonly requested color is a Safety-Orange, for visibility. That particular option seems to be pretty desirable, but under-represented in the flashlight market.
(Now, off to go troll the Desert-Tan thread for a while…)

It sounds like the XM LEDs won’t really be suitable for flashlight use. Pity…

YES!!
Or green or orange or pink.
...or rainbow from green to yellow to orange to pink
Does it have to be Convoy S2+ or C8 ?
An SK68 would be fun too.
(All depending on total cost though..)

Doesn’t have to be, but it’s easier if there is the same model due to the coating procedure.
So it will be cheaper to do x10 S2+ As opposed to x5 S2+ and x5 SK68
Price depends on how many will be made, and size of the light, the powder is £30 for 1kg which should do a lot.
If there’s enough interest I could probably do S2+ hosts in fluorescent yellow for around £16-20

What about a build in dragon eye button?
That blinks like a heartbeat.
I’ll see myself out…

I don’t think the threads will be coated too.
Or in other words:
Are all parts totally coated or just the visible outside?

Maybe in a XHP50 S2+ it might be a problem

Tail threads are coated, head threads are bare.
Coated head threads had some issues with ground connection

Also make it a dragon eye!
I can probably do both versions

Having been in the UK regularly, they seem to like Safety Yellow a lot over there, so perhaps this particular choice of colour is a European thing?

I do have safety orange and have sold a few, but it’s not fluorescent, just ‘bright/vivid’
This fluorescent yellow would be more like a hi-viz safety jacket

The more different S2+ the better. Still waiting on the sand colour one, as well as the clear ano to show up in Simon’s store.
I think the flourescent yellow is more of a European colour yes, orange tends tends to be more for ‘specialist’ roles.
I haven’t found a source for the fluorescent orange powder yet. Only the yellow.
But I’m more than happy to offer orange once I find the powder

What about GITD?
I think it’s possible, you can get GITD pigments for the powder

I guess you could mix glow powder with the clearcoat, but will that stand the heat of bakung the coating?
link to djozz tests
I think i would prefer fluorescent yellow with a slight greenish hue to it.
It’s just the ‘loudest’ fluo colour.
There is specific GITD pigment for powder coating that you mix with the colour coat.
There is no need for a clear coat with standard colours (only Chrome, Candy and Hydrographics need clear coats)
You can also get additives that sparkle and shimmer e.g. Black colour coat with orange sparkle additive

Now we’re cooking with gas! Lets do it!!!
Is it reflective ? Or could a reflective component be added to the pigment ?
What I do
I’d be interested in a yellow or a yellow/GITD S2+.
You can add me to the list
Well, all right.
