5/12/17 Updated. Cree XP-L HI edition added.

I have a Maglite with a 2D Malkoff Drop-in...

It loses a little in the focus department, doesn't get that very tight hotspot...

Much much better than the incandescent bulb that came with it...

I recently tossed the alkaline's for a couple of NiMH's, what a difference!

I would buy it again, and I recommend it!

Thanks for sharing aL1

I also have the Malkoff in a 6D Mag, agree better than the bulb that came in it. I’m also waiting on this one to show up…. Maglite LED Upgrade, Ultra Bright High Power 10 Watt Luminus SST-40-W LED Conversion

I have a couple of Maglites (2xAA and 2xD) patiently waiting for what I hope to learn from this thread - subscribed!

vestureofblood - do you still sell copper and aluminum heatsinks for modding the large maglites?

Here you go raynman.

If you need help with your builds just let us know. Plenty of Mag modders around here

+1 on that VOB

I have added the video for battery combinations, sleeves, and spacers to the OP along with a quick reference chart.

Unfortunately, some of the links in the OP seem to be broken. Look for the ones that have “…” dropped in the middle somewhere (“…” at the end is usually fine, that’s just the BLF software abbreviating them for readability).

Thanks for letting me know. I think they are working now.

That seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the chart, it’s a nice, clear reference. We used to have a 3D Maglite here somewhere; I don’t remember what happened to it, but your chart will be handy if it ever turns up

bump…

Very nice videos!
Thank you from a Maglite fan
(I got an old 4D Mag with a 220 lumen Cree XP-G2 LED bulb, running with 4 adapters and 8 nimh. I have buy it from www.thetorchsite.co.uk 5 years ago)

I have a minimum of 15 maglite flashlights in C & D from 2-cell to 6 cell, along with several in the AAA / AA.

I bought a drop-in LED for one of the AA lights one day and dropped it in. I was about as impressed as having stepped in a pile of DOO, and tossed it in the drawer.

I since took all the batteries out of them. Now they all reside in a box.

The MagLites are NICE flashlights, but I doubt I'll be wasting any money to upgrade them.

EDIT

Forget everything I said. After watching the video at The Torch Site, and seeing the difference, I might reconsider!!

New Cree XP-L HI version added to the OP.

LMAO! I love this new video, Matt.
