TrustFire Flame 18650

I never see TrustfireFlame mentioned. While I would prefer Panasonic or other brands, I have 6 18650 TF 3,000mAh batteries that I bought probable 5 years ago. They have been fine, although I do not use 18650 light much. I am thinking about getting a Soshine E4C 18650 USB Battery Charger Power Bank just for an extra, and using the TrustFire batteries.

If I were to buy new batteries what is the recommended ones at a reasonable price? The Flames are inexpensive.

Thanks,
Jerry

The flames are not recommended. get 30Q. They are the most bang for buck!

What is the source?
Thanks.
Jerry

Well, you can get it from gearbest or banggood or aliexpress. Or you can get from US based sellers. I dont know the best deals around sorry!

If you’re not going to go crazy drawing stoopit-high currents, get panny-Bs for best capacity (3400mAH).

If you want stoopit-high currents, get 30Qs.

Thanks, Guys.
Having not bought batteries for several years I did not know what either 30Q Or panny-Bs meant. I see shipping is added since I bought last.
PS I don’t find panny B. Is that a abbreviation?

Jerry

Its NCR18650B panasonics

I think Sony VTC4, VTC5 or VTC6 are even better actually.

IMRbatteries.com us based seller

BLF15 gets 15% off your order anything store wide non expiring code for blf members. They have batteries $4 and up that will meet you needs like a lg 2850 10 amp cell for $4.50 I believe unprotected panny b are $5-6 and sanyo ga 3500 is $6/cell minus the 15% from that. Shipping is only a couple dollars for a flat rate envelope every 2 cells gets a battery case. If you purchase 3 cells only get one case. Highly recommend them. Best selection of cells I’ve seen and chargers us domestic

Since the guy hasn’t used a light enough to need more then 6 batteries in 5 years I doubt the light needs any high drain batteries and there is a $4 lg 2850 10amp cell on there that should cover that need for half the price of a vtc

Panasonic 18650Bs are outdated

get Sanyo 18650GA
Samsung 18650-35E
or LG 18650MJ1
they have higher currents and less voltage drop and still are better in capacity

availiable with PCB from Keeppower, Orbtronic, Klarus and others
they put an 8A or 10A PCB and relabel those cells as 3500-3600mAh protected 8-10A cells

I am going to use them in a power bank.

What he said…

“Panny-B” is a term of endearment for the much-beloved Panasonic NCR18650B cells.

And don’t forget laptop-pulls, too. Price is right, too. (Free, vs tossing/recycling the whole assembly.)

You often get some nice LGs and such from them.

I have used tons of LiIon cells from 30Q, 25R, 20R, INR, Samsungs, LGs, Panasonics, the list goes on. most are great.

  • Just stay away anything with “Ultrafire” or most-anything-crap-fire name on it. One exception is for a very few select genuine original “Trustfire” brand cells. Trustfire is probably the only xxxx-fire name out there that actually offer some good cells, (but only if you find the real original good ones, and not the millions of fakes.)
I have a few original Trustfire 3000mah cells that tested to be close to their actual ratings in my BTC3100 charger 4 years ago, and surprisingly after countless of charges and uses these beaters seem to still hold up. Not great for high-drain lights requiring high amps, but they still have good capacity for run times.

One good example of a really good Trustfire cell is basically the ONLY good 32650 cell out there, the TF32650 from reputable sellers like MountainElectronics is like a D-Cell on steroids. i have 3 of them, all used often in modded lights, ( and one in my BLF Lumintop SD10) and this cell will hold more energy than i can even after drinking 3 cans of Monster-Energy drink, or more capacity than i ever need front a single LiIon cell. Same goes for a TF16340 cell found from reputable sellers, i been using one in my key-chain Mini-01 for years, and its the best 16340 cell i have.
Its a matter of finding the right seller and the “good real” TF cells, which is getting more difficult to do, but there are still some of them available that are the good TF cells which are great for the price. Though when it comes to the 18650 format, there are indeed better cells out there, (at a higher price) like the Panasonics, Samsungs, & even LG cells.

Ooh, a 2D Mag mod in the works?

Thorfire is the only fire brand that I’ve found to be ok the others are dangerous. I have some thorfire 26650 that test higher then the 5000mah rated capacity. Judt like their lights are always under rated. Can’t speak on trustfire cells.

Ya I try to grab them when I can last several weeks have been bum runs. Recycling isn’t to big here. But only been doing it a few months now. Best find so far was 2 hg2 cells recycled because of a tore wrapper. One tested above 2800 the other at 3000. Rewrapped the one cell and they are now in cell rotation. Found some vtc5 but those were trash. Got a free battery case though. Only tested to 1500 mah Found one pack with sanyo cells around the 1800mah range. And a old new pack with Samsung cells testing at original capacity. Any other pack has been complete trash with cells being 600-800mah but two good packs for free can’t complain. And two fairly new hg2 cells. If a cell has 1600+ I’ll keep it anything less it goes back into the recycle bin. Anything less just isn’t enough capacity. And I’ve gotten a pack of the Westinghouse 18650s from Walmart. And they are just as good as a new pack pull. Some testing on here showed over 1900mah still at 2 amps. And I’ve ran them in dd lights and they work just the same as the new Samsung pulls I found. For 2.50/2000 cell nothing to complain about with them. Only one cell was below capacity. My Walmart has the old stock at $10 and the new ones at $14 both 2000mah Westinghouse but on the back you can see its from two different manufacturers last years is a date code of 10g/2015 new ones are 10g/2016
