Got my Convoy C8 today. Love it. What's next?

The C8 is my first “specialty” flashlight and I love it.

Just wondering what you guys would say would be the “next” step up?

I was looking at this…..
EagleTac MX25L3C XP-G2 3500 Lumen LED Maximum Distance Flashlight, Black
Amazon EagleTac

Is that a good next step up?

At this point I don’t see where an 800yard thrower would really do me much good as I live in an urban area and besides my eyesight isn’t good that far anymore anyway haha.

Based on your choice , i’d guess you are looking for a flooder with lots of lumens , right ?

I know some options in 100-130$ budget , like : Thrunite mini TN30 , Noctigon Meteor M43 (recommended , see it on MTN electronics) , or Olight X7 .

I agree with Beachlogger, I just got my Convoy L6 about 3 weeks ago and it’s an amazing flashlight for the price. If you don’t have the charger and batteries it will cost a bit more but so worth it. Cool

Check L6, it is really impresive! If you need pocket size, search for BLF A6. And I’m on Q8 list also!

I bought two Kaidomain C8s with xp-L emiiter and driven at 3040 ma. They are the brightest un-modded c8 I have ever seen and that includes the Xin-TD and the Convoy’s latest edition 7135*8 driven models. $19 and worth every penny and more.
Your Eagle tac MX25 will be bright but not throw far. Depends on what you want??

I just bought the Klarus Xt12gt and the Xt11GT. I get wholesale pricing on them and I am absolutely impressed with both. 1600 lumens and 600m throw vs 2000 lumen and 300m throw respectively. The XT12 is 95,000 candlepower.
The Utorch UT02 is a great midsized light and underrated in lumens and throw. Gearbest sells them for $42. they take 26650 batteries and run-time is awesome.

Just my $0.02. I have been selling lights recently and have had a lot of them come through my garage.

light addict....yeah I've got the bug.

I vote M43 next.  Mtn has them and on sale.  Or maybe S41S, but what kind of light are you looking for?

The L6 is just a fantastic light. There is a thread on this forum that deals with it in a very detailed manner. It’s a huge thread. It’s probably in the section for 26650 lights.

Any BLF designed light. Yes, the BLF A6 is an excellent light. So too is the BLF Kronos X5. If you want a pocket light the Manker E11 has been clipped to my pocket for weeks now and gets used far more frequently than I ever thought it would.

I’ll also suggest the Q8. When it gets into our hot little hands it should be one heck of a light.

You might also keep looking in the for sale section for modded “one off” lights. Then there are folks on the forum who will build a light for you.

If you want/need a LOT of sheer punch, the L6 is unbeatable for the budget. It’s the highest item on my wishlist right now, beyond even a new smartphone to replace my old, outdated, battery-deficient and cracked model.

My SMD 862D+ and A17DD-L FET+1 came in today! I installed the driver in my C8 and the AR lens. What a difference. It’s like a hole new flashlight. Big Smile

Thanks for all the input.

I decided my next specialty is the ........Convoy L6

It's ordered and en route.

I purchased a pair of 5200mAh 45A 26650's to go with it.

I can't see needing (or wanting) any other lights beyond my new Convoy C8, my new LED headlamps, a pair of 750lm LED camping lanterns,  an assortment of low budget led cree flashlights and my (on the way) Convoy L6.........so I think I'm done.

It is defiantly brighter and the beam throws farther. With the original driver I was getting 2.79V to the emitter in its highest mode. With the A17DD-L FET+1 driver in turbo mode I was getting a solid 3.5V to the emitter. I was using a Nitecore NL189 3400mah battery at 4.08v, not completly charged. Its like a super A6 and takes the heat very well. I can leave it in turbo mode way longer because of its mass compared to the A6. I am ordering a lux meter this weekend because I hate guessing. The AR lens gives it a warmer cleaner appearance if that makes any sense. For the size of the C8 it throws an impressive amount of light. because of this I am ordering another C8 and driver and this time I want to mess around with the emitter. Man I love this stuff! Big Smile

I bought Soshine 5500mah batteries when I got my L6 a few weeks ago. They seem to be ok. I just got a set of IMREN 5500mah 22A/60A batteries and they work great. Now the Soshine batteries are 68.2mm in length and the IMREN are 67.4mm. The Soshine only give the L6 4amps max each where the IMREN give 22amps each. The L6 seems to like the higher amp batteries. The IMREN batteries where almost 22.00 a set compared to the cheaper 25.00 Soshine at 12.50 a set. The Soshine are protected batteries where the IMREN are unprotected. The L6 seems very versatile with its battery size. I’ll order a set of green Efest IMR 4200mah 20A/50A to see if they fit at only 65.78mm in length. Your going to love the Convoy L6! Big Smile

Maybe I’m reading this wrong your trying to say your l6 stock is drawing 22 amps? Highly modded ones draw around 9 amps

Blf has changed a lot since I've been here. Lots of snow flakes and easily offended over nothing. When the forum use to be great and people joked around and could take a joke. It's a forum it's not that serious. Let's make BLF great again!
