Lost my modes on Trustfire F20 ?!?!?!?

Last night I left my F20 on low as a nightlight. In the morning the light was off, so assume I started with a weak cell. No big deal. I put a new NiMH cell in and no longer have any modes. It only has 1 mode now.

I tried a new cell, tried all kinds of clicking but still just one mode. Is there a trick to getting it back to the 5 modes?

Think of it as an opportunity. Now you can put any nice driver you want in it.

Was this an original F20 with the original driver to allow both cell chemistries? You reference using NiMH so I assume so.

My Trustfire F20 has been my EDC since 2012. A couple of years ago, I replaced the factory driver with the Nanjg 101-AK, which is a 1.4A 7135-based driver. I shorted the pins to get the 3-mode no-blinkie option. With this configuration, I lose the ability to use Alkaline/NiMH cells, but I used Lithium exclusively anyway, as I found the performance on Alkaline to be underwhelming. I’ve been very happy with this config.

It seems as if it switched modes by nature of shutting itself off due to low cell voltage. Is that a thing?
