Greetings, Dear Sir or Madam

Just kidding, that’s just something I picked up from my inbox.
My real name is Robert, Bansuri is an Indian classical flute that has a beautiful sound and was a handle that wasn’t taken when I was signing up for CPF some years ago, figured I’d bring it with me in case we’ve chatted over there.
Was mildly active there for a few years but then I got a ZL SC62d which, to me, was pretty close to perfect so I stopped checking the forum. It was also great because it helped me kick my flashlight habit which was getting very expensive.
I was aware of BLF but only had so many hours a day to spend reading about lights and the budget lights back then didn’t appeal to me.
Went back to CPF recently, just seems different. Same threads popping up 2 years later and a lot of bickering about…meh, moving on.

Either I’ve changed or the budget market has changed because it seems like you can get an awful lot of flashlight in the “budget” range.
Used to be that lousy tints were just what you’d get, I enjoyed swapping emitters but now it’s easy enough to get a decent emitter in even a sub-$20 light. Amazing.

I’m just now getting around to an intro and I’ve already purchased more lights than I care to admit based on what I’ve seen in the BLF. I’ve just got a few more niches to fill with lights and then I’m done for a while but I’ll be sticking around watching things progress.

Cheers!
Robert

ps. here’s what a bansuri sounds like.

You had me at “Greetings, Dear Sir or Madam ”

Welcome to BLF!

It's a pleasure to know you, bansuri!

Thanks Angler and Racoon City!
This is probably the best place to ask a total noob question so here goes: I’m having problems with images not displaying.
For instance I can’t see any pictures in the first post of this thread: Review: Convoy Diffuser for S2+
Also in Racoon City’s post above there is a picture of a gal with “welcome to BudgetLightForum” and below it are 2 huge squares with little icons in the top, left corner. Just white boxes otherwise.
I was thinking that Stephenk maybe forgot to post the pictures in the review and everyone was just riffing on pictures that weren’t there, but with the giant boxes in RCs post I’m thinking I may have a setting wrong in how the forum displays.
No biggie either way, I’ll try the forums with a different browser.

edit: nevermind, I figured it out. I use openDNS and it’s set to block imgur. I’ll switch my DNS settings on my computer.

Welcome to BLF
Do you know Indian companies that make flashlights?

Please kindly accept welcoming dear

welcome to BLF bansuri!

Hi bansuri! So nice to have a new friend here!

Welcome to BLF! Just be careful. The expensive lights may get you up front, but the budget ones drain your wallet with stealth! :smiling_imp:

Updated my info, forgot to mention I’m in the US.

Hahahahah

Welcome Robert! I too am from CPF of old. Never been the spendy type so didn’t ever fit in there.

welcome all dear!

I thought you were another snake oil salesman. LOL.

I remember seeing your handle on CPF.

Welcome to BLF!

Welcome Robert!
Here you will find many more niches need filling than you thought.
At least that’s been my experience

Welcome to BLF, bansuri. Warning: don’t get fooled by the word budget. These lights are like locusts.
One is harmless, but when they come in swarms, going broke is the least of your concerns.

It started out simple enough, I felt the $90 for a zebra light headlamp was too much. I got a skill hunt H03, it was so nice that I bought another. While I was at it I picked up a copper AAA Luminitop and then a 2xAAA. It seemed like the H03 was too nice to use at work so I got a couple of rechargeable 18650 Headlamps for like $8 each shipped. Gave one to my coworker who’s always borrowing my lights.
I’ve exceeded the original $90 that was deemed too much to spend on one light and now have 5! Well, 5 more than before.
You’d think I could stop now yet something tells me I’ll be checking the Recent Posts link later tonight.
