I have seen these Keygos Flashlights that are either Ultrafire copies or from the same manufacturer. Both the KE-1 and KE-2 look like the Ultrafire C8, with the KE-5 looking like UltraFire U-80.
Possibly they are the same rebranded or the maker is using a basic carcass and the circuitry is different. I do not know and I am clueless on this subject.
Keygos are generally listed as being 1300 lumen, but more like up to 1000 lumen.
I have written to Keygos to ask the differences, but maybe you guys with them can provide a better review. http://www.keygos.com
The only differences listed are the body type and measurements.

I read in one forum that the heat sink on the KE-5 was glue instead of screwed.
I also read in a translated Russian review something about the battery current!
http://www.24au.ru/Details.aspx?LotID=1191869
1) Absolutely honest 900 lumens.
5) Supply of 18 650 single battery - included. Ток потребления 2.5 ампера. Current consumption of 2.5 amps. Что интересно, применять можно только аккумуляторы без защиты, т.к. Interestingly, use only batteries without protection, because при токе 2.5 ампера защита отключает аккумулятор. at a current of 2.5 ampere protection disconnects the battery.
Here is a list of Keygos YouTube videos:

In general the only main thing I can imagine is the reflectors are different. They are all smooth, but I think there might be a difference around the Cree emitter.
Possibly the digital regulated circuitry is below 3000mA Current Output.
I am looking at single cell 18650 Flashlights of the most lumens, highest power, and longest beam throw. Budget of around $32. I was looking at Ultrafire flashlights but now considering one of these Keygos copies.
These 3 models interest me, but I would first like to know their technical info and the differences between them. Plus their weaknesses compared to other similar budget flashlights. But I want to keep the subject on these 3 Keygos flashlights please! Comparison beam shots between them would be super.
Ok, something for you experts to get your teeth into. Thanks in advance!
First of all , welcome .
It seems you've done quite a bit of research already .
You'll fit right in here .
Good luck finding the perfect light .
What I do
Thanks Jack.
You mean I am a Geek. Well I only have two Flashlights (not Fleshlights) at present. But already looking for a third.
Some years ago I made the mistake of saying potatoes are all the same. I nearly did the same today in saying batteries are all the same.
Well the first Keygos KE-5 I got burns at around 3.5 amps at the tailcap with Trust fire flame 18650. The second what I just got burns at only 2.05 amps. And it's not even close to being as bright.

Do you have pictures of the drivers of both KE5? it seems I also got the 2amps driver before modding mine.
Thanks
Yes both bought from redlog on ebay. Both pills are completely different so I would say so are both drivers as well. Nite and day difference between the 2. The first one I got will probably be very close to 800 lumens and maybe even brighter.

I think the Cree C8 XM-L is brighter than the second Keygos KE-5 I got. I wouldn't buy another like this one. I would bet the first Keygos KE-5 is over 200 lumens brighter than this second one I just got for my son.

I don't want to take the thing back apart. It's built cheap compared to the first one. I'll leave it at that. I won't recommend anymore of them since they have went cheaper.

Welcome to BLF, Chris!
ILIKEFLASHLIGHTS
I have been close to pulling the trigger on a KE-5 from redlog as I LOVE my KE-1 and their service was excellent. However, I read your review and getting 3A instead of the 2A I get from the KE-1 made me want to go for the KE-5 just to see the difference.
I might just have to get the KD C8 because I think it is the same as the KE-1 only cheaper. Then, if I'm not getting more than 2A, I will have to do my first mod and put a new driver in one of them.
What do you think of your KE-1 compared to the KD C8? IIRC you have both.
Do you think if either of them were pulling close to 3A they would be in the ballpark of your first KE-5?
OTOH, perhaps I should just save up for an X9. Guess I could just do the mod on that if I got one of the 1.4 drivers as it sounds like I likely would. I am very happy with the KE-1 would just like a bit more through and to see what one of these would actually do with a 2.8 driver.
Wade
Wade, I took some pictures for you so you can see the difference what I mean. Now if you can find one like the first KE-5 I got I would tell you to buy it in a heartbeat. Let me upload these pictures and then I will tell you more what I think.

Ok here's my first bright Keygos KE-5. That's approx 85yds.

Here's the second Keygos KE-5 and you can see that it's nite and day difference between the two. I didn't touch the camera between these 2 shots. Again 85yds to that shed.

Here you can see the difference up close. My first Keygos KE-5 which is the bright one is on the left. The 2nd Keygos KE-5 is on the right. To me there is no comparison.

Yep. Both were on high and both had Trustfire flame 18650 that were both about fully charged. Now remember I have got some tail cap readings on the first bright Keygos KE-5 as high as 3.75 amps I believe with the Trustfire flame 18650.

And just for grins I took a picture of the same exact distance with the TR-1200 5X Q5 light.

Now you know why I like the TR-1200. I'm guessing that thing puts out very close to 900 lumens.

Just did a tailcap reading on the KE-1 with Tenergy 2600mah charged to 4.1V: 2.5A. Still pulling some 2.2A on a half discharged cell at 3.9V.
Any chance of please showing the first GOOD KE-5 you got? I meant the good bits inside so we know what to look for? Then if it is not the same we can run away. Possibly to save you dismantling you can copy and paste from the photos in the review links I have posted above. Maybe from here: http://www.jayki.com/13146
ILIKEFLASHLIGHTS Is this your GOOD KE-5 brass pill you are talking about?:
http://budgetlightforum.com/node/4975 #9
Also please remember this is all new to me so I am clueless in your terminology.
Thanks again!
No that is just like the second one I got.
I took a picture so you can see for yourself. The first Keygos(brighter version) is on the left. Also on the first one I have there is a teflon spacer added over the XM-L led. I like it a lot better for screwing and unscrewing the head.

Here's a closer up shot of the pill on the brighter 1st Keygos KE-5. I can't really read the letters or numbers.
And I will try and show you the difference of the teflon spacer on the first version vs the 2nd w/o it.

My 2nd Keygos KE-5 looks just like this. Notice the white thermal paste underneath the emitter board.

Ok this is redlog's picture on ebay that he shows. Now remember I'm not telling you guys to buy this light from him because my second one sucks compared to the first one. But this picture is exactly what my first one looked like up top.

And actually what I called a teflon spacer is actually probably a spacer made out of delrin. On the 2nd version, that little cheap white plastic spacer just pops over the led.

So basically the shitty light has a coil spring in the pill and also has a grease stuck down black emitter board with a small white cover around the LED emitter.
The good light has a flat brass connector in the pill and a wider white cover around LED emitter. Correct?
Yep.
The second one I got isn't really bad. It just gets blown away by the first one. I would opt for a good Ultrafire C8 XM-L before I bought another Keygos KE-5 like the last one I got.
