Convoy BD06 - only stays on for ~90 seconds

I bought a Convoy BD06 from Gearbest after reading threads here with good reviews. I bought two different manufacturer’s 26650 batteries with good reviews from Amazon. The flashlight will only work for about 60 to 90 seconds, then it dims to probably 5% or less and starts pulsing at a rate of about 1Hz. What is the problem? The flashlight is supposed to charge the batteries, and does at least a little as when I first plug them in the charge indicator indicates red (sometimes) and eventually goes to green. The batteries charge to about 4.4V. The light has never worked for even 5 minutes continuously. Shouldn’t one 26650 last near an hour or more on high with this LED?

Gearbest support hasn’t provided any help. My review doesn’t show up on their site either, which makes me think they filter anything that isn’t a positive review. Won’t be buying from them again.

These are the batteries I’m using…all six behave the same way which makes me think it is the flashlight:

Everyone here talks about “Simon”, how do I get in touch with him?

Does anyone know how to contact Simon?

What charger do you have? They shouldn’t be charging to 4.4v, only 4.2, and rest at 4.18 or so. Charger sounds suspicious.

I wouldn’t bug Simon about a product you bought from Gearbest and not from him. Contact GB if the light doesn’t work, but first make sure all the retaining rings are tight and clean the contacts on the tube.

Also, don’t trust amazon reviews, especially batteries. I don’t know about these you bought, they could very well be good cells, but sellers on Amazon are well known for selling fakes and junk. There are plenty of reliable honest sellers in the US without resorting to amazon or ebay.

Ah yes my BD06 was a bit finicky when the tube was not tightened hard to the head. I had some issues but after giving the tube threads and top side a clean (don’t know if that was needed but did it) and firmly screwing it in with some real force it worked like a charm.

I think you need to deal with GB about your light.

People can contact Simon through his Convoy store on Aliexpress. I use the app on my phone which makes it easy. I believe you need to make an account on Aliexpress so that messages can work and you can receive notifications.

The BD06 has built in charging.

The behavior your describing sounds like the battery voltage is too low.

I’ve never heard of EBL, but those Thorfires are good.

Do you have a seperate battery charger you can try?
