Something that might be interesting. HX Concept - 1.2V/3.7V 1100MAH USB Rechargeable AA Batteries

Hey guys, I found these AA batteries on Manafont. They have a removable end with a USB head on it. Just thought it would be something some of you might like. :)

Interesting concept, with the switch to swap between 1.2v/3.7v

I'll grab a pack to check them out.

Just got the pack I ordered.

Standard NiMH battery with a boost circuit to drive the USB output (open circuit voltage 5.7V). The "1.2V/3.7V" switch just turns the boost circuit on or off; you need to turn it off to charge from USB. When charging the battery from USB, a red LED lights up behind the USB connector.

Definitely not LSD -- both were completely flat at 0.02 volts.

Maha C9000 reported 279 and 347 mAh, respectively, on 0.5A discharge after the first charge, with voltage rebounding to 1.27V after terminating at 1.0V. I've just started a break-in cycle (set at 800 mAh rather than the claimed 1100), and will let folks know the results on Friday.

Update: The break-in cycle just finished its intermediate discharge, and the results are 468 and 471 mAh, respectively, at 160 mA discharge.

Thanks for the info, still waiting for mine.

Looks like they're more of a novelty than anything usefull.

411 and 415 mAh at 0.5A discharge after the second slow charge of the break-in cycle.

Figure about five minutes of operation in USB mode if it can actually produce the 500mA called for by the USB spec.... (as it will then be sucking at least 2A from the cell, and probably closer to 2.5)

Update: Rigged the USB connector up to my Imax B6. At 0.5A the voltage drops faster than the B6 can respond; at 0.1A discharge I got 5:31 down to 4.0 volts (actual termination at 3.95V), for a whopping 9 mAh. Of course, those are different mAhs than above due to the differing voltage.
