I see both points here however after this amount of time (since 5/2017 when it was originally proposed) disappearing from posts all together with no update good or bad is disappointing. Hank proposed his idea of having a super throw version of the D1S and when he came to the conclusion that it was not feasible he came out and said sorry no go. If the light is having issues tell us. I think most if not all BLF members will appreciate communication in this regard.
Could it be manufacturing decisions determining that Fritz needed to make a design alteration regarding tube wear lead to a conflict, or at least varying views ?
Though precision is a concept that Chinese manufacturing has been learning to dominate very well, could the realities of hand made skilled craftsmanship find conflict with mass market production realities ?
I see both sides as well. My Emisar D4 does what this light is proposed to do, so it’s not like I’m going to be at a loss if this light never happens. This is a hobby for 99% of us so we definitely should respect other people’s decision if they go “cold turkey” and leave the hobby. Obviously we can’t force a member to make lights for us
For me, it rubs me that they still log in, possibly even reads this thread, yet refuse to chime in on anything. If Fritz hadn’t logged in since his last post in 2018, we could all assume he gave up the hobby, or worse, and we could move on. But every month when he logs in, we’re reminded he is still here, just chooses not to speak. Which for me, is frustrating considering how close to the finish line we are.

Nice
Someone mentioned disappointment.
It is indeed disappointing that this project seems to be grinding to a halt.
And even if it doesn’t grind to a halt, it’s disappointing there is little to no progress at the moment, and that the main players seem to have disappeared.
Needless to say that nobody is obliged to do anything they don’t want to do anymore.
I get that no one owes us anything. No money has been laid out, only a “I’m in for one”. You think that from a marketing standpoint, keeping us updated from time to time would be good business sense. Hundreds of requests already with no communication, just think what it could be with an occasional update.
That looks amazing tatasal. Lets get this moving to production.
I agree a hobby is for fun. But when a project like this is made public, we all get excited to see the finished product.
To not get stressed and bombarded with messages from members its best to keep the idea private so no one knows until it is ready to ship if that is the plan
Teacher, you aren’t old enough to remember that.
The light does look great.
I keep thinking how cool a 18650 light this small would be.
I sure hope it still happens.

I sometimes wish I weren’t old enough to remember cabfrank. . IIRC, I think I would have been in about the 4th grade at that time.
Yep, those pictures are very impressive!! I’m hoping so too.
In fact, despite everything; I think it will.

There are smaller 18650 lights out now. The D4 is close in size. The Zebralight SC64 is smaller, and my favorite production light so far (although I wish it had the double springs of the SC62).

Dark matt grey?
Uh!
A light Batman would carry
Man that looks good. If only we could get a real HA III finish on it.
tatasal that is so beautiful! I really like the flush attachment on the pocket clip. How does the tailcap look?
Do you have any information for us? We are dying for info here!

I love that color
In for two please! Really nice, it reminds me of LiteFlux

I’m in for one LH351D, please and thank you!
I have to admit, in and of itself, that light in dark charcoal matte grey looks very nice.
I agree. Is this another prototype that has been released? Did I miss something?
I’m listed for 2 … after seeing these images, I may opt for more
Perhaps tatasal can solve the mystery of those pictures?
