The main benefit of this would be disclosure of lower prices.
We have to use PM canal to learn a products price sometimes because if price low, it may be illegal to show it publicly.

I suspect the op was referring to MAP and the fanatical enforcement by some manufacturers.
But how is it secret when anyone can sign up for free and see it?
i read this as a way to ask, why should non-members get the price benefit of the hard work done by forum members to pursue, find and share the great deals?
One of the benefits of joining the forum would be getting access to the special member threads (extra password area).
i am a member on another forum which has such a policy and secret place, and the information found there is especially amazing and helpful.
For example, i have traced numerous driver and charging circuits and would gladly share the schematics with forum members, but not with the general public and robot search engines.
