Updated----Beginning Review for Thorfire TK15S Flashlight

/>

The first things I noticed with the flashlight right out of the box are:

1) When the flashlight is hot it acts wonky .

2) In high mode the flashlights gets uncomfortable to hold in the upper 2/3 of it's body.

3) It is very bright.

4) Very nice floody beam pattern.

5) The mode changing button is hard to find by touch. Close to impossible.

The flashlight arrived hot because the outside temperature was in the 90’s. I placed a Samsung 30q battery in the light and turned it on. Well it was in strobe mode and did not strobe correctly. I unscrewed the flashlight into three parts and let it cool for around an hour. Afterwhich time the light strobed correctly and I had all the modes with the same battery. Moonlight, low, medium, high, and strobe modes. The TK15s has a wonderful floody beam pattern and a reasonably neutral white tint. The box it came in did not specify cool or neutral tint. The original Thorfire VG10’s I owned were exceptional for the price. The small double AAA Thorfire PF04 given to me is reliable and bright. The Thorfire TG06 I bought worked well and had lots of accessories. It used slow PWM so I sold it. PWM is not a flaw in flashlights . Flashlights that use slow PWM give me a headache during use. I received a 99% discount from Thorfire to review the TK15s. As of 08/20/2017 I am going to use the flashlight for the next few weeks and then write more about the experience. I will post more photos of the light and take it apart also. Please stay tuned for updates.

I was convinced the light had some of the worst PWM I had ever seen, until I realized you had it aimed at blinds.

I live in a very nice small house. Almost every inch of wall space is taken. Vertical blinds guarding the sliding door have the most unobstructed span in my home.

On the TK15 (not 15S) I received for review the light would slowly blink whenever the head or tail were loosened and then the light switched on after they were tighten again. Pressing the switch again would put it back in normal mode.

Was this the problem you were experiencing? In my opinion there was a flaw in the switch causing this to happen. Interestingly the slow blinks were exactly the same as the low voltage indicator.

That was not the problem my flashlight had. It would strobe erratically when hot. I did not loosen the head or tail cap to cause this to happen.

OK thanks. I was just curious if my issue was something common to the light.

i have the unit now.
what do you consider wonky?
it has 2 strobe modes.
cycling mode which is like 50–100 ie strobes but to 50% rather than off.
the other is a 2 stage strobe.alternating fast/slower.
its in the freezer so will see if any different cold.
edit.
left it over an hour in a 0f freezer.
works exactly the same as when hot.
and i gave it a real hot test.
used up a battery resetting turbo till it was very hot.
it is possible the strobe action is by design.

Snakebite you tested the flashlight much better than I did. Peace.
