Dear all, is there some recomendations on a 17mm driver to use in a Maglite 3D flashlight? the idea is to mod it with a XPL-hi led on a heatsink but I wish to remain using the 3D alkaline batteries.
Thanks

With 3D you could go DD ot a FET+AMC7135 driver
The question is how much current will be in DD when the batteries come directly from charger without resting
I build and sell TA drivers
I would go with a proper buck driver like LD40, advantages of this are that you can run lithium too, or some 3AA to D adapters, disadvantages are that you may not get the full energy from the standard D cells.
Otherwise just a simple 7135 driver or FET driver (or both like TA) will work good.
kiriba-ru on here makes a nice maglite D Cell conversion kit.
I have the conversion heatsink and the led flowed on the DTP board but I needed some advice on what kind of driver for 3 D alkalines in series. Thanks you all for the input.
How about a simple 16xAMC7135 driver
Is there this kind of driver in 17mm?
Yes
choose “add 8 chips” to the 105E or QLITE REV.A drivers, or you can only add 7 to the Moonlight Special Driver. You get the idea.
Thanks a lot for the advice
