Lii-500 fault

Has anyone else had trouble with this charger.

I got mine for Aliexpress. Had it less than 2 weeks and only done a couple of charges. I thought I’d try out the Discharge function but it went bad. Was showing very high voltages for 18650 cells - over 5v so i switched it off. Now it fails as shown in here https://youtu.be/dsi5yvzEHZ0.
I am hoping the seller will help me :frowning:

wow that doesnt look good, hope you get it sorted!
Video is very clear on the issue, that must help

Open dispute quickly ,and put the evidence, you will be refund.

Unfortunately over the 15 days to open a dispute but I’ve had an online chat (interesting!) with customer services who have emailed the seller.

I too had the same problem, after about 6 charging cycles the charger ends charging at about 5V, fortunately I was charging protected batteries, I bought it from GB.

Just curious, are you using the supplied power adapter or your own?

the supplied power adapter

the best battery charger I have is the first I purchased, a Foxnovo purchased on Amazon, after hundreds of charging cycles still works perfectly.

I bought a few from AE couple of weeks ago... Hope mine is not lemon.

Geez I wish I had read this thread a couple of days ago. I just bought one Lii-500 from the Liitokala official store on Alibaba for $19.xx including shipping costs. I too hope I don’t get a lemon.

Eep! I was just asking about chargers, and was considering a ’500.

I bought mine over a year ago from the so-called “Official Litokala Store”. So far it’s been 100% reliable. That said, I’m using my own power supply. Maybe their power supply is causing these problems?

Power supplies, my dears, this is the key. Cleanpower… (LoL!)

I have good homemade tablet/phone chargers, one frankensteined from an old router power supply and another from an old (vintage :-D ) transformed BenQ 4 megapixel camera charging brick a friend lent me (15+ years ago LoL!). Curious how those good ol' power supplies are still providing service and my IT equipment doesn't complains.

Get good power supplies for your chargers. How is that 12V 3A Asus power supply doing, atbglenn?

If you have an Opus BT-C3100, get a 12V 10A power supply for it. Yes, I'm serious. And I bet it'll measure capacity correctly then.

Cheers ^:)

Considering the popularity of the Lii-500, failures are pretty rare. I’ve had a MUCH more expensive ($90) 8-bay brand-name charger fail.

I also have a Foxnovo 4S. Was my first purchase for the Lithium Ion. Bought it in April 2015. Still going strong. It does give higher capacity rating than my Lii-500.
Used the 4S to capacity test about 100 laptop pulls and hundreds of charges in it since. It also works well for slightly recessed tops on some of my 26650 and 30Qs.

My Lii-500 was purchased from GB over a year ago and it came with the US wall wart. It is still working. Not really friendly to those recessed flat tops I mentioned above. I do like the lower 300mAh settings for AAA. And the cell resistance reads, while it varies slightly on the same cell repeatedly. It is a good idea of the condition. Springs on the sliders have popped off before I took it apart and bent the hook tighter.

the 500 was 1/2 the price of the 4S. Each has their positives and negatives. Both still work.

Any good recommendation for a 4 slot multi type batteries, super fast, c/w usb output/input, discharge function chargers? personally I like the looks of Nitecore & XTAR chargers. :innocent:

Strange. My lii500 purchased from GB has no problem making contact with my flat top 30Q cells.

There are low quality clones out there i understand. It might be possible that the big Chinese distributors pick up some on a lark?

If we hold their feet to to the fire maybe they will not do that again. Or our sources may be suspect. We should ask them directly if possible.

Yeah, strange…
I did have it apart 2X to fix popped off springs before I bent them tighter in the second go. I may not have the contacts into a slot properly or someting. Guess its gonna be 3X soon. But thanks on that.

I have been using my own trusted high quality supply. Also tested on my bench supply. It seems to have a big current surge and then do its cycling thing.

Still no contact from seller.
