HERE IS HOW TO GET YOUR OWN BLF-GT:
1. Go to this thread: http://budgetlightforum.com/node/50303 If you don’t already have a BLF account you will need to sign up for one.
2. In the above thread say “please add me to the list”. If you want more than one say “for 2, 3, 4, etc”
3. Watch your Private Message box at BLF. You will be sent a message requesting the down payment of $14 be sent by papal. Final price for people entering the group buy is $150. If you wait until after the group buy price will be around $259. As of right now YES the group buy is STILL OPEN.
4. Check back periodically. Right now we do not have an exact date for the finished product. This is made and designed totally from scratch so every measure that can be taken to ensure top quality must be taken. Only after the final tweaks have been approved by the team production will take place. Right now I do not have the information about when the balance of the price will need to be paid.
I realize that is not a perfect scenario with completion details in limbo, but I think it’s well offset by the generous price.

Very nice test! Love those beamshots, way better then I could find out here in flat land Texas for that kind of distance.
Just some FYI, I measured the LED bare in my setup and got around 2400 lumens IIRC. It is the same LED from my XHP35 test in my sig as the prototype LED died due to something falling on it and causing it to burn.

Thanks TA. I sort of figured my number on that would be a bit short since the light was cascading over the rim of my lumen tube. Did you take any cd readings?

For the imperial challenged 6230ft is 1.899km
Living close to the sea and in early spring the humidity here stops me from getting any where near that, if I had a nice big building like that hotel to aim at I would get maybe 1.4km

Yeah, I did some testing at one point and was surprised just how many lumens are lost if any part of the reflector surface is covered, particularly the outside rim.
I am sure there are some losses from the reflector and glass but still should be over 2000 lumens OTF pretty easily I would figure but impossible to know for sure unless someone has a 6” sphere.
I tried to take some throw readings at one point but it was just too humid to get good readings. The readings kept going down the further away I got instead of up like they should. Makes sense as the beam was almost blinding itself from being scattered. My best numbers were actually from less then 5m when the beam had clearly not collimated yet.

Holy Sh…..!!! Now I have to wipe a really big grin off my face before the missus returns from shopping.
You are a flashaholic if you are forced to come out of the closet, to make room for more flashlights.
I ran into the same issues with my beamshots. The humidity caused the light to scatter way too much and the camera freaked out.

I've just rawly estimated the Kcd output of my modified ThorFire TA13 with C2 XHP35 30G and stock output Kaidomain's H2-C driver (1.5A max). My phone measured nearly 75Klx at 0.8m, which is almost 48Kcd. To me this is good for ≈50m, maybe 100 if I'm in
a good mood.
With this same reasoning in mind, your gigathrower is maybe good for 260 meters, 525 if I'm in a really nice mood.
