Large or small...which lights interest you more?

What kind of lights are you finding more interesting these days? I’m not necessarily asking which you use most often as that would probably be a keychain light.

However, that may or may not be the type of light that you find the most interesting.

From looking at the threads I would guess that maybe it’s the larger lights since there is a lot of interest in 3 XM-L.

Or maybe those who are buying larger XM-L lights are just the more prolific posters?

I thought a poll might be interesting. I greatly prefer smaller lights both in terms of practicality and in terms of interest. Ugly designs also don’t seem quite so ugly when the lights are smaller

I think I also expect bigger lights to put out more light but at a certain point it just feels like I’m trying to light up the entire outdoors. When I see a small light that puts out more light than I was expecting that’s more interesting to me for some reason.

I do have a TrustFire XP-E F23 (1xAAA) that's my EDC light, but I carry it seperate from my keys and that's all I need in small format.

Except for that one I prefer larger lights, currently the C8 format seems the most interesting, both in XM-L as in XR-E configuration.

The regular p60 size is just perfect for me. don't really need anything bigger or smaller unless we are talking special purpose like constant carry/ EDC or searchlights.....

im on a p60 "compatible" kick right now,so i voted p60 or smaller. i just got my tf-r2 last week, got a 502b xml that should be here next week, and an going to order a mxdl 3w cr1223a that reportedly takes a p60 pill with some modification. the tf-r2 i guess would be technically bigger than a p60 format light though i guess

larger lights do interest me, but the cost is over y budget, and larger lights wont get used as much by me

To me P60's are "large".

"Small" to me means AA or smaller.

That said I own two 6D Mags and several 2-3D ones. Don't own any C Mags - never seen one other than in pictures. C cells seem to be a minority (Read USA) interest. hat said, I own two 4C lights - one of them a 3D Mag mod and one of them designed for 4C.

I also own a few CR2 lights and a lot of very small ones.

Yeah, P60 is a little large in my opinion as well but I figured if I included P60 with the large lights everyone would vote for large and it wouldn’t tell me as much.

I like having both of them, I like ultra-small (like TR-803, i love it!), some P60 and bigger too... This is something like a vicious

I´m planning to get somday a multi-emitter, multi-18650 light but not yet.

Smaller lights seem to interest more because of easier carry and no real need to get ridiculous amounts of light and/or runtime.

Price is also a factor.

At work, it absolutely can not be larger than a P60 size flashlight and that's also the biggest torch I'm willing to EDC. However, as a hobby, I don't generally find small lights all that interesting. As usual, I'm interested in things I can't afford.

Big and bright . . . specifically, (the) bigger and/or (the) brighter, (the) better.

P60ish... or smaller size for an EDC, but then again, the EDC isn't interesting to me, it's part of my work, so it's more of a necessary tool. The other reason I only carry a small EDC is that here in TX if I were to carry something like a 4D at work and ever had to use it for defense, I could be prosecuted for intentionally using a "Night Stick". Non-coms (non comissioned guards) can't carry anything which could be considered "useable as a weapon".

Bright is what I always end up looking at for mods, the newest "ultimate LED", but I can't ever afford them, so I usually build ones that have gone past their prime. I guess I favor a light more by the looks of it than the size. Mag-Lites (D size) are a standard and I love the modded ones. Usually at least a 50mm or Larger diameter head and at least a "3AA" or larger diameter body, but short. I Don't like anything longer than a 2D and prefer a 1D length type light. Overall looks are the primary factor for me.

I would want only small lights, like Fenix LD01 size, if they could produce 2000+ lumens, not get hot, and run on High mode for 1 hour or more. :)

Since those don't exist yet, I'm forced to get bigger lights. Since I already have good small lights, I'm mostly interested in the bigger lights right now, but not because they're bigger; because they're brighter. So among the "bigger" lights, I'm only interested in the "small" pocketable ones that still have tons of output.

Small lights for up close and flood .

Large lights for throw .
