AAA and AA

There are obviously a gazillion brands to choose from (rechargable), could you guys steer me to a good brand/brands?
they will be used mainly on clocks and 100-ish lumen head lamps. I dont have any AA flashlights…so low drain applications.

I have a LUC-V4 charger but need to buy another to charge AA batteries. (i assumed it would charge AA batts but it doesnt).

Enelong are good, you can find them on Ali

Ikea has some good rechargeable batteries.

thanks guys!

Check out the Fujitsu cells. They come in white/regular (750/1900 mAh) and black/pro (900/1450 mAh) versions. If I’m not mistaken, they’re made at the same Japanese factory that makes eneloops. They are practically the same cells, and at some stores they are a bit cheaper than eneloops.

Any AA or AAA battery that has “Made in Japan” on the battery and packaging is good. It may have one of several different brands on it, including Eneloop, Panasonic, Sony or something else.

Amazon Basics come in two kinds. Made in Japan and Made in China. The Japanese ones are rebranded Eneloops and are marked Made in Japan. If the ad does not state that the cells are made in Japan, they are the Chinese ones, the seller tries to hide that fact.

These are good ones:

Thank you much for the heads up!

True, but i think these are the same:

I have a bunch coming.

Why are you recommending 750-900 mAh AAA batteries when there are 1075 mAh available?
What makes them better?

They are, I bought eight on Ali.
My Lii-500 says that the advertised capacity is correct.

Non LSD (Low Self Discharge) cells may have higher capacity, but they will lose their charge in a few months instead of years like eneloops. In low power applications that makes them better. Also eneloops are likely to loss less capacity over time.

With brands other than Eneloop, I wonder how long they will last and how many recharges they can take. Eneloops have been proven to last for years.

I am sure that some of the Chinese batteries are good. I just don’t know what they are. Eneloops don’t cost all that much more, especially some of the rebranded ones like the Amazon Basics.

I’ll be sticking to the “Made in Japan” cells for the present.

Thanks for the explanation.

For Amazon Basics note that 4 and 8-packs say made in Japan while larger packages don’t say that.

I’m still using all my AA Eneloops I bought back in 2006. They’re still going strong, even at high-discharge. They have about 90% of their original capacity.

Other brands I bought back then died long ago.

Eneloops are a bit more expensive than other brands, but considering how well they perform and how long they last, it’s the only kind of AA/AAA battery I buy now. They have completely replaced all my alkaleaks. I just charge them up every couple of years, when used in remotes and clocks and other low-drain devices.

In flashlights, I use them regularly, and charge some every couple of days. Those have hundreds, if not close to a thousand charge cycles on them. Still going strong.

I wouldn’t recommend that strategy with coin cells like CR2032 and similar. Especially Maxell.
