How read the LED bining/type codes?

CREE XML2 U2-1A
Which letters in the spec sheet represent U2? 1A?

I’m looking for LEDs with L=U=CRI 90

Look them up on the Cree data sheet. The base order codes for 90CRI are on the data sheet page 4. From the data sheet I don’t think Cree make a 90CRI U2-1A. U2 is 70CRI and below. See page 3.

90CRI is limited to 2600K to 3200K. The Luminous flux groups for 90CRI are S4, S5, S6 and T2.

T2 is the brightest at 485lm at 2A.

S6 is the next step down….

XMLBWT-00-0000-000US60E7

Next, we need to look at the binning and labelling document —->

http://www.cree.com/led-components/media/documents/XLampXMBL.pdf

See page 18 of the binning and labelling. 90CRI T2 is available in the E7 kit only.

If I understand the binning document correctly, E7 is on page 10. Looks like they can get 90CRI emitters in 7A, 7B, 7D, and 7C bins.

S6 is available in E7, Z7, F8 and E8.

I’m very new at this. Corrections welcome.

I am ordering today from Mouser
+19% tax
shipping is 2$

Next go shopping.

I did a quick search on Mouser.

They’ve got some in stock….

Mouser No: 941-XMLBWT000US60E7
Mfr. No:

I’m looking for CRI=90+ with at least 1200 lumen. Could be a single led or those with 3 on PCB. I’m unable to find the perfect combination.
And when I find a LED I don’t understand how many CRI it is because the type numbers listed on sites are rarely complete. Or, I simply read them wrong.

Have you looked at the CREE XHP70.2?

Forward voltage is 6 or 12Volts. Probably best to use 2 series connected cells but a boost converter would work too.

Yes. Page 6. CRI 68-90. How to pick the 90 version. That’s my problem.

For the XHP70.2

If you want something around 1A (your first post) with 90CRI and > 1000lm ummm

XHP70B-00-0000-0D0UM40DV

OR

XHP70B-00-0000-0D0UM20Dv

At 4000K there is a still a 90CRI in the M2 luminance group. —> XHP70B-00-0000-0D0UM20e5
That would be M2 5A, 5B, 5C or 5D.

Checking Mouser:

No stock on any 90CRI parts. Have to order an entire reel :frowning:

Same for Digikey. They do have a selection of 80CRI parts in stock. Mouser probably do too.

You may be better off with nichia leds, at least the high cri versions are not virtually unobtainable outside of warm tints.

From mouser you can order XHP70A with CRI90, just use the search function then click in stock and you end up with like 20 LEDs
CRI90 has 8 left

In that table there is not the CRI index marked, just the color selection
CRI is the letter before the flux bin J4-N4
U stands for CRI90
B for 70

5700K is the highest flux bin with K4

@Lexel. Good site. But $30 shipping for a single LED…. not so good

Besides of that interesting stuff.
Does the white in in multicolor leds never have a CRI value?

@Andrew_Debbie
I’ve seen that, but the problem is that most shops I checked don’t list the full number. Usually they only mention something like “XHP70.2 Cool White”

That means you get whatever they have or even factory seconds.

Mouser and Digikey list by full part number. You can also search on here to see where people are buying from. There are links.
