ReCyKo+ AA batteries anyone ?

Just purchased 1 dozen of these rechargeable AA batteries. I recieved them well packaged and fully charged. Currently half of them are powering clocks, remmotes, and one flashlight. I have seen GP batteries in the past. Currently most of their battery chargers charge batteries in pairs. The old fashioned way. I will be using my Xtar VC4 to charge them when needed. Anyone have experience with this model ( GP 210HCB ) battery ? Nothing in life is perfect. The reviews that I have read are either 100% positive or negative. Not much middle of the road.

These are good quality LSD NiMH batteries although they are not at Eneloop level (the older white labeled Japan-made cell). I had mine for almost 9 years and it still going OK. However, unlike Eneloop, some of mine developed high internal resistant being in storage for a year, but a couple of cycle in VC4 or C9000 bring it back to service. I had bad experiences with the Recyko+ AAA tho, almost all rusted at the positive terminal, it could be a batch issue, I’m not sure as I ditch them and only use only Eneloop/Fujitsu/IKEA Ladda (White labeled) cells now.

I got a couple of these few years ago and they were outlasted by eneloops and duraloops (from Costco). After 30 cycles or so the IR skyrocketed and they got hot towards the end of charging cycle. Not sure what went wrong but the same happened to my eneloop pros. I was using the maha c9000 charger. No more NiMH since then and I only stick with lithium and alkaline now.

I bought 8 of their AAs with the different green wrappers and they’re still going strong six years later.

How much are you getting them for? On Amazon US, they are almost as expensive as AmazonBasics high capacity ones, in which case I’d rather get the AmazonBasics instead.

Me?

When I got them in 2012, Eneloop Gen. 2s were selling for $10-$13 a quad and the ReCyKos were in that range. They have a bit more capacity than standard 2000mAh Eneloops (marked 2050mAh) and they’re made in China.

Six years later, the I.R.s are a tad higher, but nothing to fear.

I can’t speak to the newer iterations.

My last AAs were Fujitsus, but those were bought in 2015.

Chris

I purchased them from Promethious lights-Dark Sucks. 30% off coupon for AA size batteries currently.

I have 11 first generation Eneloops that are ten years old. All still around 2000mah. Had 14 but two out gassed. Another I dropped and bent all up.

ReCyKo+ can be found here :

Thanks.

FYI, they are actually cheaper on Amazon: $11.99 for 8.

Some people say Amazon basic batteries are absolute garbage. I do not know what to think. Bad chargers or counterfeit batteries.

The older regular (non LSD) AmazonBasics made in China aren’t good. But the newer LSD ones (made in Japan) are great, at least in my experience. I have a bunch of them… regular capacity, high capacity, AA, AAA, all work fine for me.

Yeah, we want anything made by the FDK plant in Japan, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fujitsu.

FDK makes the Eneloop for Panasonic, which is now just a trade name.

Fujitsu is willing to sell to just about anybody, so one needs to at least find a ‘made in Japan’ origin on the batteries, to have a chance.

I only use Eneloop (or new Panasonic eneloop), or Fujitsu NiMH. This are the best.

I have used, Tronic, carrefour, Turnigy, Varta,…….all seems ok…but after a few months or weeks…of use, not support the high request of Amp of lights like UT01, zebralights, Mi7,…. When you charge it, seems fine (2000 mA) but not support the Turbo or High mode of good lights…. I prefer spend a little more of money for use with Top AA flashlights, for other uses, perhaps others are good….

I think I am going to give the Amazon basic AAA LSD rechargeables a chance. Good price and made in Japan. All the ReCyKo+ batteries are now in remotes and clocks. Used two of the GP’s in my Olight S2 Baton for about ten minutes. Then flashlight got dim. Batteries were warm not hot. Olight still works fine with Eneloops. Both batteries have a voltage of 1.28 Vdc. Placed them in my Xtar VC2 plus charger and they will not charge. Eneloops are king of rechargeables. This does not reflect badly on the business I purchased them from. Quality control in manufacturing is not king in a very large asian country.

To be fair. After 15 minutes on the charger one of the batteries reached 1% of charge. I do not let my eneloops to become completely empty. So maybe these batteries do not have much of a charge. Time will tell.

If I could do it over again I would not have purchased the ReCyKo+ batteries. At my local Target they sell both AA/AAA size Energizer/Duracell rechargeable batteries made in Japan. I purchased a package of AAA size batteries today. My experience with the 12 I purchased is that they were immediately ready to be recycled.

Were they $10 for 4-pack? Are they the 700 mAh capacity?

FYI, you can get 8 AmazonBasics for the same price.

They are 700mah capacity and $11.09 for 4 pk. I was not feeling lucky about batteries today. 99% of people get 8 AmazonBasics AAA batteries made in Japan for a lower price. I would have been the 1% that would get garbage.
:+1:

In the unlikely event that AB turn out to be garbage, you can return them no questions asked. You risk nothing.
