similarities Utorch S1 Mini, Klarus Mi1c, Olight Minis, and Sunwayman

imo, all these lights are using parts from the same sources

Same no High CRI as S Mini and Mi1c

Klarus Mi1c and 0Light S1 Mini have low battery indicator

does the uTorch S1 Mini have low battery indicator?

Of the lights mentioned, only the 0Light S1 Mini offers High CRI

I wish one of these was available with a Nichia!

They use Cree LEDs and they get the lenses from some company. And they don’t produce batteries.
They copy from each other

The UTorch has no red switch LED IMHO, I didn’t see one in the video.

You can rebuild normaly any UI
And the Olights S1 series was long time without a good clone.

I think if you disassemble the lights they are quite different.

I appreciate you pointing out that the UTorch S1 Mini lacks low battery indicator, that is a feature my 0light S Mini does not have either. The Klarus Mi1c does have low battery indicator. As does the 0light S1 Mini.

The lamp can stop working, but you shouldn’t ruin the battery.

yes, I really like the USB rechargeable LiIon, and yes, they have built in protection so are a good choice for unprotected lights like the ones in this thread.

Nichia compatibility is lacking for the Olight S Minis because the TIR is designed for the wider die XML2, though I made an exception for the Sunwayman that is also XML2, because it does not have a TIR. I did not mark the Olight S1 Mini as Nichia compatible not because of the TIR, which IS compatible, since the light uses an XP-G3, but because the Olight S1 Mini cannot be opened without damage. The ones marked Nichia compatible have bezels that unscrew easily, and use XP leds, that match the footprint of Nichias… At least, that was my thinking. Open to corrections.

I dont want to take the time atm, but I can tell you that the Utorch S1 Mini weighs about 5 grams more (the weight of one USA 5cent coin), and is about 1/4” longer, than the Olight S1 Mini High CRI

I agree. I could tolerate the light with a Lee 1/2 minus green filter. But I sold it and bought some Utorch S1 Mini instead, because they can be modified to Nichia.

The Olight S1 Mini has high CRI Ra, but rather low CRI R9, the Saturated Red component.

Maybe-correction: E16 probably doesn’t come with a TIR but with a lens-reflector hybrid. I doubt it’s narrow, but maybe…

I believe the E16 does use a short TIR, but may be mistaken. Fenix calls it an “optical lens” and shows it compared to what I would call a TIR, hence I consider the E16 lens a short TIR.

As far as narrow or wide, my definition of a narrow beam includes the Olight S Mini and Olight S1 Mini. They are basically a wide hotspot, but not as wide as the spill on a conventional reflector beam. I call it narrow, because when I use an Olight as a headlamp, I have to move my head a lot, to keep the bright beam on whatever Im doing with my hands.

My only reference for the beam on the E16 is the German Video. It shows a very round beam, no hotspot, hence, I think TIR, similar to Olight beam.

By contrast the Aspheric lens of the Utorch S1 Mini, is a huge flood of even light. When used as a headlamp, I do not need to move my head, just my eyes, to be able to see everything in my hands, out to shoulder width, easily.

For my arms length headlamp use, a conventional reflector, such as on my Lumintop Tool, forces me to move my head constantly, to keep the hotspot aimed at whatever is in my hands. I do not like reflector beams for arms length. I dont like the Olight TIR any better. I consider both give me a narrow field of bright light at arms length.

these are just my thoughts, Im open to others perspective. Some people for example, might consider the beam from an Olight TIR to be “wide”, and it is certainly “wide-er” than the hotspot from my Tool, when shining across a room…

Here is an example of an Aspheric, then an Olight TIR, and a conventional reflector on a Tool.
